Robins can get as close as they like but visitors must keep a respectful distance.
The Conservation Herd are part of the Forest's living landscape and #EppingForest is their home. Please treat them with the same respect you would any animal you meet in the Forest.

✅ Give space: Pass cows widely and quietly
✅ Be attentive: Keep dogs under control, on a lead if needed
✅ Don’t stress: Avoid loud noises or sudden movements
✅ Be tidy: Take rubbish home, including dog poo which can severely harm cows

✅ The ponds we began with last month are filling up nicely. Works will continue elsewhere in the forest in summer 2026. You can follow along with Project Pondscape here: arcg.is/vzjPi1.

🦋#Butterfly season never really ends. This week we're looking for Brown hairstreaks they've recently re-appeared in #EppingForest after a long absence. They fly high in the canopy so it's hard to detect the adults but the eggs can be seen on blackthorn branches in winter.

We're working to extend their lives with Britain's most ambitious ancient tree restoration programme. Since 2003, over 650 trees have received expert care, but this bespoke work can cost over £1,000 per tree.
