I can easily back this up scripturally. Join me in Gen 26.
Verse 1:
There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech, king of the Philistines, in Gerar.
There was famine and everyone was leaving for abroad. Isaac too wanted to japa. Then God spoke to him.
Verse 2-4:
Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.
And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.
Isaac got his own word from God to remain in the land of the Philistine, where where was famine. He did not japa. What was the result?
Verse 12-14:
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.
The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him.
Now let's read verse 16:
And Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”
Don't go and be doing what every other person is doing. If you have your own word from God, stick to it. Isaac was in the land of the Philistines where there was famin, and only him was prospering. Others japaed, the ones that stayed were not successful and had to envy him.
In conclusion, let's read Pro 3:5-6:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
This is the most profound message I've listened to on the mercy of God in my entire life.
