It’s interesting to watch high school football players attend a showcase and see they are slow. Know they are slow, and continue to do whatever it was that got them there. Fellas lifting heavy weights SLOWLY will NOT MAKE YOU FASTER.

If a college coach follows you on X. 1. Follow them back 2. Send them a short DM with some metrics and your summer schedule. 3. Ask if there is anything you can provide for them. Note-if it is a Division 1 coach prior to August 1st before your junior year they cannot engage in recruiting discussions. But they can send you a questionnaire or information about a camp.

It’s hard to be elite if you’re not consistent.

Linebackers: People might be telling you you’re too small. Don’t listen. Instead: Study the game. Master the fundamentals. Play with a relentless motor. Do that, and you’ll silence all the critics.

All you need is one 🅾️ffer.

Linebackers: You can’t make the play if you’re stuck on a block.

Linebackers: Move SQUARE.

Writing online has helped me become a better coach. You don’t REALLY understand a topic until you can reduce it down to a short, simple post.

A high school coach once asked me why one of his players wasn't getting recruiting attention. My first question was simple: "What's his HUDL link?" The response: "We don't have one yet. He's still working on it." That answer told me everything. College coaches can't recruit a player they can't evaluate. And once they do click on your film, you have a short window to hold their attention. The best plays need to be first. Speed. Explosion. Range. Savvy. Whatever separates you from the crowd needs to show up early and often. The video needs to be organized. No film = no evaluation. Poorly organized film = coaches move on. Your highlight tape is often your first impression. Make it count.

If the plan doesn't work, change the plan. NEVER the goal.

The game of football can add so much value to a young man's life if he can understand the opportunity he has in front of him.
