Gerry McNamara told Syracuse on day one of summer practice that championships are built on what you do every single day. Not one great performance, not one great season, but every day consistently & repetitively. And when your coach pushes you harder than you think you can handle, that’s not them working against you…. That’s them telling you they already believe you can do it. The pressure is the compliment.

I know 3 D1 Head Mens Basketball Coaches and 1 Major Program Assistant that were all NAIA Head Coaches less than 5-6 years ago. Those same coaches would get ignored left and right by recruits and coaches then….but now everyone wants to be their friend and “has a player for them”. Don’t ignore ANY coach because you simply never know what it can lead to.

If your players don’t have a stride stop with an inside hand fake “in their bag,” I’d suggest adding it asap. A great solution for a small advantage against aggressive defenders.

Everybody wants discipline… until discipline gets loud.

Hard coaching is loving a kid enough not to let him stay average. If a coach is demanding effort, detail, toughness, and accountability bothers you… that probably says more about today’s culture than it does the coach.
