Flair Friday…. WOOOOOOOO
As we approach the Memorial Day holiday, let's take a moment to honor all the military personnel who gave their lives for our freedom.
**Winners:** The Iowa State Cyclones had an offseason that started slowly but quickly gained momentum with the exciting promotion of Brent Metcalf from assistant coach to head coach. This change created a lot of buzz and enthusiasm around the program. Metcalf and his staff immediately recruited two former Cowboys, Brayden Thompson and Rin Sakamoto, along with 125-pound national qualifier Ayden Smith and another Hawkeye, Dru Ayala. Dru followed in the footsteps of his brother, Drake Ayala, who joined the coaching staff as the Iowa Hawkeye defections continued. It's not just the wrestlers they added that positioned them for success; the hiring of Metcalf as head coach and Drake Ayala’s involvement on the coaching staff significantly elevates them into the top five portal winners this offseason.

**Winners:** The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have made some impressive recruiting moves! It's not about quantity, but quality. I believe that is Jersey Mike's catch phrase..... SUB ABOVE.
They added two outstanding pieces: Brett Ungar, who chose to stay close to home rather than consider several Big Ten options in the Midwest, and big man Daniel Herrera, who, I believe, is one of the most underrated signings in the transfer portal. The most significant "boom" for Rutgers is Anthony Knox. After spending a grey-shirt year at Cornell, Knox immediately becomes an All-American contender. Additionally, they recently secured a nice piece in Kelly Dunnigan from Penn. Overall, Rutgers is making some great strides or wait some loud BOOMS!!!!!!

**Disappointing** Stanford: After a record-setting season for the Trees, three All-Americans and one NQ immediately entered the transfer portal. Oh wait, Prov, Knox, and Garvin all decided to return, with only Norman leaving for Oklahoma State. Never mind, my bad. Calculated or a stroke of genius? I’ll let you decide…
