Despite this spectacular save w/ the shot clock winding down⏳by the GBS keeper, congrats to our Frosh/Soph @ETHS_GWP on their 6-4 win. Shout-out to the perfect shot clock reset by the shot clock operator. Wonder why the same excuses for HS 🏀 shot clock, don't apply to HS 🏈🤽🏽

Basketball is never going to be played perfectly by any team. There are bad shots and 1 v 1 shots taken in today's game w/o a shot clock. That's never going to go away. The question is, which is worse for the game... 4-6 bad shots/game, or 4-6 minutes of no shots/game?

Not all HS teams will run great sets. Very few HS teams have more than 1 or 2 good shooters so you will see packed in mans and zones with emphasis on just the shooters. IMO It has potential to be ugly basketball. I could be wrong, but once it’s implemented it’s not going away

No. It's the exact opposite. The shot clock would be appreciated by the 97% of the players that will not go on to play at the next level. Why should they be deprived of the experience to play basketball instead of keep away, for the full 32 minutes? The @NFHS_Org also agrees.

So you want a shot clock to help prepare the 3% of players that play at the next level? So then if HS has it, shouldn’t Jr High have it? Where do you want to stop this at? AAU should have it, but that wouldn’t matter as most of those teams don’t pass the ball much anyway.

The game is for the players, not for coaches, not administrators, or not those that don't wish to grow the game. Would love to see a survey from every Class A school to Class 4A school, asking their players if they want a shot clock in @IHSA_IL Basketball.

why push this on all teams? Many teams don’t have players that can create their own shot. Unless you let every HS team recruit who they want/need to play this type of ball, then it’s unfair to force them to play a certain way. Small school have to play with what they have.

Coach we played Christmas tourney in Taylorville. 35 seconds is an eternity to get a good look, sets a great pace to the game, and takes 4 corners out of play. It’s a no brainer in my opinion to get done asap. I don’t fault any coach who uses ball control but it’s not hoops

Let's start with the players. That's the most important. Then you can go to the fans of the game. A shot clock actually keeps teams in more games, than takes them out of games. Teams with a 4-point lead with 2:30 to play, have to continue to play.
