Seeing the reach of the NTHSBCA All-Star Game is pretty neat to see! So grateful to the other coaches who helped put this game together for the first time in 5 years. Also pretty neat to have a couple ReedyBoys w/ Jack & CJ as starters…and Jack striking out the first 3 hitters!

College baseball people, are we ready to talk about the state of chirping (not nearly strong enough word) or not yet?

Common story: Kid loves baseball. Decides to quit other sports & specialize in 8th grade. Plays spring ball, summer travel ball, & fall ball. Private lessons over the winter. Ends up swinging/throwing 12 months straight. Does this for 4 years. 48 months straight of the same back/arm stress. And we wonder why so many HS players have Pars stress fractures and torn UCLs. Now apply this to volleyball, golf, basketball, etc. We are breaking our kids’ bodies in pursuit of scholarships. Athletes need an offseason. Especially when they’re 15.

🧵 1. Too much disrespect happening in baseball right now. Respect still matters. In competitive environments, it’s easy to think intensity and aggression replaces everything else, or that winning justifies how you carry yourself.

2. Winning or losing doesn’t grant you permission to cut corners on professionalism. No matter how the environment gets: Compete hard, fight for your players, and demand excellence. Those three aspects should never change. How you respond or carry yourself matters.

3. The programs and coaches that last aren’t just talented, they’re consistent in how they show up and act every single day. Respect the game!

Room temperature take: today’s young athlete plays so many games that they rarely care much about losing anymore.
