Rack Row has been a game changer for our program. We can row heavy, using the same progressions & intensities as bench press for true push/pull balance. Fast efficient setup saves space & it works on any rack. Check it out at RackRow.com

Stud! Love seeing our athletes thrive at the next level. Quinn competes in absolutely EVERYTHING he does. Clocked him at 21/22 mph many times in our program. Hard work pays off & he’s only gotten faster since going to Baylor. A gunslinger who can hit 23mph is dangerous😈#sicem
Top speed work-23.7 mph ⚡️ @XcelerationATX

Common story: Kid loves baseball. Decides to quit other sports & specialize in 8th grade. Plays spring ball, summer travel ball, & fall ball. Private lessons over the winter. Ends up swinging/throwing 12 months straight. Does this for 4 years. 48 months straight of the same back/arm stress. And we wonder why so many HS players have Pars stress fractures and torn UCLs. Now apply this to volleyball, golf, basketball, etc. We are breaking our kids’ bodies in pursuit of scholarships. Athletes need an offseason. Especially when they’re 15.

Does anyone do a “speed limit” on maxes using vbt? Essentially letting a kid do a 1RM, but it only counts if they hit a certain velocity(say .2 or .3ms), to help eliminate slow/ugly “PRs”

Leaders look around the room, & give others what they need to be better. It might be: Encouragement A hype speech Getting called out An example to follow But leadership is simply being others oriented.

New PR hack… Usually our groups are split boys & girls separate. Today we combined boys/girls for fly 10s. So I had the girls line up by the laser gates when the boys ran & vice versa. Almost a dozen boys hit a PR😂

Really cool moment this past week: received my official patent paperwork from the USPTO! A few years ago I had an idea: what if we could train chest supported row in the weight room the same way we train bench: with heavy, % based progressive overload. All strength coaches want a balanced push/pull ratio, but because there isn’t a good weighted row option in most weight rooms we usually only match volume, not intensity. I started having my athletes row on boards across the safety arms. It worked, but caused some issues: bruised chests & scary moments where the boards almost slipped off. So I came up with a design that would fix this & had a prototype built. Our guys loved it so much I decided to try and bring it to weight rooms everywhere. Fast forward 2 years later & strength programs across the country have invested in our bench. It’s been a ton of work figuring out patents, LLCs, manufacturing, how to build a website etc. It’s also been incredibly rewarding seeing my work pay off in places like the BIG12, ACC, & NBA. I love coaching & don’t ever plan to stop. But seeing the way God has used this process to grow my faith & character has been incredibly rewarding. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for the future.

Looking for honest feedback on timing systems, not hype. Every time I see a tech system hyped up on twitter, it fails to live up to it. So what timing system do you use & whats the good, the bad & the ugly? I’ll start:

We currently use Brower: Setup: quick, easy, painless Data Reliability: very accurate/consistent Missed reps: I’d say 1 in 20. The laser hand start box however misses often Interface: hand held with no Wi-Fi. I prefer this to an iPad connection, it’s simple and always works. Other issues: range of the handheld isn’t great. Range of the large display is awful, and misses so many reps it’s unusable.

There’s no excuse when it comes to nutrition today: Give ChatGPT your activity level, age, weight, height & weight goals. Ask it for the macros & calories needed to meet the goals. Then ask for a meal plan. The tools are there, you just need to execute.

The quality of your coaching is FAR more important than your programming. a well coached simple plan is more effective than a poorly coached complex plan
Your programming isn’t the differentiator you think it is.

You don’t need deload weeks in high school training: Winter break Random week off due to weather Spring break Finals May break 4th of July break August break Thanksgiving break Finals That’s 11-12 off weeks a year. When it’s time to train, you’d better train.

Coaches who have been involved in a turf install: What brand/product have you loved or hated? Does anyone have actual independent research showing injury rates of different brands? Does any of the cooling tech actually work?
