The 50-year mortgage only “helps” people who invest the difference. Everyone else just gives the bank an extra four decades of interest. This is how a society creates investors on one side and lifetime renters on the other.

Money will be meaningless by 2030. We will have superabundance soon. World economic output will be 10X what it is today by 2030. AI information work will saturate demand at essentially zero cost. Automated factories will make one billion robots a year. Everyone will get an equal UBI, which will have ten times the value of an average income today, and its value will continue to grow rapidly every year. Until... we saturate demand... for everything. Money will mean nothing because everyone will have it. It will no longer be an impressive accomplishment to have wealth. It will be the opposite. Wealth and excess will be looked down upon. Modestly and minimalism will be admired. Rich people will be shunned. Thought of as being shallow, selfish, and out of touch. Obsession with wealth will seem like a mental illness. People will admire simplicity and humanity. Real wealth will be in having a loving family, strong social relationships, and a solid moral foundation. The biggest transformation will not be in the economy; it will be in ourselves.
