Book and Archives Conservation Services, offering treatment and advice for manuscripts, parchment and printed materials for their long term preservation.
And we were delighted we could help make this acquisition possible! Given the court book’s condition, you might want to talk to our lovely colleagues at @TheNMCT to discuss an application for a conservation grant.
We were delighted to receive funding from the Friends of the National Libraries to purchase this court book, for the manor of Ventongimps in Perranzabuloe parish, and to secure its long-term preservation and availability.

We’re thrilled to share that Icon and ICRI have officially signed a mutual recognition of accreditation agreement! 🤝 Accredited members of both organizations can now become Accredited members of the other without needing to be re-assessed.
Amazing to see the Dulwich College first folio and the huge inspiration that it's been to the students. An incredible exhibition of Tudor theatre artefacts.
@waterandsteam volunteers were putting our new clean workshop through its paces for the 1st time today supported by @Codex29123. The fab end to 5 training days & they’re now ready & excited to get to grips with our collection care programming. Thanks @Aimuseums@ThePilgrimTrust😀
As we go through these wonderful journals, there’s evidence that their maker performed some conservation himself! Old rust stains suggest that ephemera were originally fastened with a metal pin. These were later removed, and the inserts reattached with a loop of thread instead!
Volume 6 (1926-37) is the behemoth of the JJ Morris collection. 132 pages feature ephemera, leaving the journal lopsided.
This unwieldy textblock needed an extra support of alum-tawed skin sewn to the spine so that the structure can flex freely and securely when handled.
Here are just some of the colourful, repurposed boards used by JJ Morris when binding his journals. He would often cut boards off exisiting notebooks or boxes and recycle them.
These lovely surprises were revealed when removing covering paper for cleaning and repair.
It’s the last day to apply for this round of mentoring provided by @gem_heritage in the One to One Mentoring Programme | Summer 2023 - GEM gem.org.uk/careers/one-to-on…
Another great day working with the collection volunteers at the London Museum of Water & Steam, preparing the Archive's treasures for the latest members' talk
Another joyful day practical training in collection care & storage with @Codex29123 & archive volunteers @waterandsteam. If you wonder if you should apply for an @Aimuseums@ThePilgrimTrust grant stop wondering & apply in the next round. We have 3 more days training next month 😀
Day 1 with the wonderful Ann-Marie Miller (Codex Conservation) @waterandsteam sorting & tidying the workspace within the archive & store. Huge thanks to @Aimuseums@ThePilgrimTrust & @LondonMusDev for the support to make this step change in our collection care. Day 2 tomorrow 😀
Many thanks to Ann-Marie Miller @Codex29123 for a very useful discussion based on forensic analysis as to how the Thorpe album came about. This sheds unique light on the scope of this precious collection hence on my project @SoaneMuseum@KentArch@UniKent@BritishAcademy.
A wonderful visit to the Soane's Museum earlier this week to aid in the deciphering of this beautiful collection of C16th architectural drawings. A treat to behold!
