Coming soon... By imagination and childlike confidence, by faith and hope, we see the story behind all things. The story told by a God who is Redeemer and who is drawing near. The story of meaning. And the only way to read it is by re-enchantment. brdh.org/the-porch-light-bro…

Just got home from the funeral. A lot to say but not nearly enough space for it. My wife singing @CityAlight’s “Yet Not ai But Through Christ In Me” at her own mom’s funeral; the kindness of @NPWhite717 and his congregation; a Jesus who says “come to me, all who are weary.”

Coming soon: the porch light broadcast. Join us on the Porch as we look along the beam of time, seeking to see what our God is doing today by tracing what He was doing when the world went to war with itself. Yes, that is Adolf Hitler and C.S. Lewis.

I’ve not finished either yet. However, regarding reenchantment, I think Horton’s Divine Self is better than Trueman’s Desecration. Particularly because desecration is a fruit of disenchantment that longs for enchantment. The latter is the root. thegospelcoalition.org/blogs…

Amber’s mom passed away today. Thank you for your prayers. A huge thanks to @NPWhite717 who has been present and walked with us through all of this. Thankful for God’s grace in saving sinners who have faith in Him. Continue in prayer for us.

Your wife, still recovering from a Pharisee culture, wonders (in tears) if her mother had enough church membership to get into heaven. Meanwhile, the monitors with their tubes, all declaring her present weakness, blink on and off. And Jesus, strong, waits to welcome her home.

What if God isn’t stingy with grace, and He really doesn’t crush a bruised reed?
It's absolutely staggering how often in the gospels we are explicitly told Jesus had compassion on someone. He wasn't just fulfilling his role. He wasn't just doing the job. He was moved by deep love.

Praying for a miracle tonight. My Mother-in-Law was found unresponsive today. No breathing or heartbeat. She is in critical condition in the ICU. Pray for her. She is not a believer.

Carl Trueman coined the phrase Big Eva and it caught on. But, now he thinks Gig Eva—unaccountable online evangelical influencers—is an even greater concern. Watch the clip and listen to the full episode on buff.ly/6B0fj1W or anywhere you listen to your podcasts.

Introducing birdhouse’s first giveaway: Muller’s Post-Reformation Reformed Dogmatics. Come tell us cynics to consider the birds; come tell us sad-sacks that death has been made ridiculous; come tell us control-freaks that we can play and let others play too. Come outside & play!

Almost nothing is as hard as rewiring your brain and heart after years in a Pharisee culture. I keep having to say, and hearing from others, “Yes. The Christian life really is that easy,” and, “Yes. Jesus really is that kind,” and even, “Yes. You can have fun.”
