I had an idea a while ago about how to improve large-scale social media, but it wasn’t feasible, now it might be. Idea is to compare posts/relies using a ML model (using embeddings) and duplicates strongly discouraged* — suggesting votes on existing posts, etc.

The idea is to greatly reduce duplication of posts and elevate newer thoughts in a forum.
Otherwise how could we possibly sort through 5000 posts in reply to some topic and find those you agree with? And how to manage that scale. I don’t think you really can.

The sentiment/meaning pre-analysis could even be done as kind of a search first, then compose.
I think it would well with short posts like real-Twitter, less so with 10 page screeds.
Just spitballing some things I’ve been musing on here.

I did a reverse image search. It seems this photo is from a tech review of a thermal imaging camera named the FLIR E6 (sold by places like Amazon). This photo was “repurposed” for an incredibly scammy site named Thermozone which basically made it all up.
