Rest in peace, Steve Cropper… A seminal guitarist and songwriter, he helped shape the sound of American soul with Booker T. & the M.G.’s and countless classics. His artistry, integrity, and influence endure, leaving a legacy that will resonate for generations…

Trump royal visit idea... The royal he meets is Prince Andrew. It would give him a role. The pair could reminisce about their friend, Epstein. They could go for a pizza.

I’d suggest speaking with your doctor, rather than asking Elmo’s kitchen dwellers for ‘medical advice’.
Sorry to bore with the health stuff, but got very helpful advice yesterday, and maybe it'll help others. So every time I eat or drink water it's excruciatingly painful, so unsurprisingly I ended up in dehydrated. The very lovely crew at Ambulatory Care in UCLH put me on a drip and gave me a litre of water, then PPI. I'm on Lansoprazole 30mg twice a day for the last 53 hours, before that Omeprazole, and Dihydrocodeine 30mg every few hours with paracetamol. Unfortunately despite all that, and this started on Monday, I feel worse than ever today. Tried eating a couple of grains of rice this morning. Immediate horrendous burning pain around my chest area. Even a big sip of water sets that off. Haven't meaningfully eaten since Tuesday lunchtime. Any advice welcome! I'm obviously going to have to get rehydrated again, but not being able to eat is obviously an issue, and obviously I can't do any work which sucks. Any advice welcome! I'm very privileged to have never been really ill, so this has given me new insight. I've only had a few days of this, and clearly it sucks, so been thinking a lot about people who have chronic illnesses which go on for years. Anyway, fingers crossed this doesn't drag on indefinitely 🙏

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of drummer Roy Haynes. In a career lasting over 80 years, Haynes has influenced and innovated, shaping some of the greatest recordings in jazz while altering the very fabric and direction of jazz improvisation with his mercurial, intelligent, joyous drumming. Nicknamed “Snap Crackle” for his punchy snare and cymbal patterns, Haynes’ style was characterized by crispness and finesse, as well as a tremendous sense of drive. His playing has never sounded dated. On the contrary, in every decade he has been associated with musicians on the cutting edge, having worked with such artists as Lester Young and Charlie Parker in the 1940s, Bud Powell, Sarah Vaughan and Thelonious Monk in the ‘50s, Stan Getz and Gary Burton in the ‘60s, Chick Corea in the ‘70s and ‘80s, and Pat Metheny in the ‘80s and ‘90s. His bands have included some of the more exceptional young musicians on the scene, ranging from his Hip Ensemble to his various quartets.

When the Tories sold off our electricity in 1991, 5 of the ‘Big 6’ ended up in the hands of the French, German, Spanish and Swiss. Now these companies charge British consumers up to 5 times European prices in order to subsidise electricity back home.
