Providing surplus food to people in poverty is simply not a long-term solution to either food waste or poverty!

A National Food Service is possible and necessary. In Belo Horizonte, hunger has effectively been eliminated, with 2% of the city’s annual budget.
This people-centred approach includes public restaurants, community gardens and shortening of supply chains.
