McWhorter and Deputy Commissioner Allen Borden joined former Governor @BillHaslam and @Bridgestone Corporation Global CEO Yasuhiro Morita last week to discuss preparations for the 48th Annual Joint Meeting between the Southeast U.S./Japan Association (SEUS/Japan) and its Japanese counterpart, the Japan-U.S. Southeast Association (Japan-USSE) in Nashville this October.
Governor Haslam will serve as Chairman alongside Mr. Morita, who will serve with Mr. Masaaki Tsuya as Japanās Joint Co-Chairs.

The conversation focused on supporting Korean companies and investment, accelerating U.S.-Korea cooperation in the nuclear sector and expanding Korean studies and cultural exchange opportunities.
Since 2019, South Korea has emerged as Tennesseeās No. 1 foreign direct investment partner for jobs and capital investment, with Korean companies committing to create 6,600 job commitments and invest over $14 billion in capital statewide.

Since 2019, TNECD has awarded more than $1 billion in funding to expand broadband infrastructure and digital skills across Tennessee.
That investment is powering real change on the ground. In @MetroNashville, the @NashvilleMDHA used a TNECD digital skills grant to provide residents with free laptops along with hands-on training to use them. For some, it was their very first time ever touching a computer.
