Who else is a Stargate SG-1 fan here?
As a huge Stargate fan, I'm gutted Amazon canceled the new series with Martin Gero and the OG creative team.
Amazon said it was "too focused on existing lore" (WOW!) and wouldn't bring in enough new viewers.
But the show was literally built by people who made Stargate a global phenomenon for decades — action, adventure, humour, heart, AND easy entry points for newcomers.
Budget wasn't even the issue. It was deep into writers' room and pre-production. This decision feels like classic Amazon short-sightedness: chasing the widest audience while disrespecting the passionate core fanbase that keeps the franchise alive.
@MichaelShanks (yes, Stargate's Daniel Jackson himself) nailed it:
“I’m gonna simply say this: if you are at all interested in a Stargate show with ANY of the original creators/performers involved, now is the time to say something. Otherwise it really will be the end of that chapter forever. Let them know you are THERE.”
Exactly. When you have the real creators and cast who understand what makes Stargate special — respect the lore while making it exciting for everyone — you don't throw that away. You let them cook.
The fans have spoken loud and clear with petitions (already 50k signatures).
@AmazonMGMStudio , revive this with Gero and the OG team. We showed up for 17 seasons before. We'll show up again and bring new fans with us. Don't let this be the end.
