Need the TL;DR on the Valencia Street Project? 🧵
Some major changes were approved by the SFMTA Board of Directors today.
The new design adds additional loading curbspace, reduces conflicts between cars/pedestrians in crosswalks, and shifts bikeways into the middle of the road.
It all comes down to how we measure success, as Vice Chair Borden emphasized to staff for future reports.
"The status quo is not working. People are dying today"
After over 2.5 hours of presentation, public comment, and discussion within the board, the resolution is brought to vote with the two amendments.
The Valencia pilot with an unconventional center running bikeway passed unanimously.
