@ConorDougherty and @clmarohn and @AndrewYang let’s talk housing
The New York Times just ran a piece arguing that the only way to solve America’s housing crisis is to embrace sprawl: build outward, fast, and without hesitation. This is the logical conclusion of the extreme YIMBY take: “Just build. Anywhere. Everywhere. As fast as possible.”

The working class means those who must work to pay their bills. McDonald’s workers are working class. Walmart cashiers are working class. Social workers are working class.

This is “workforce housing.” I am a single mom; I work in Temecula and my son just registered to go to MSJC.  I am the local workforce and I have been fighting and voicing the struggle to keep a roof over our heads for 8 years.

How many of you have donated to a go fund me to help a needy family? Or to a local food bank? We don’t want your money or your charity. Our only ask is for your support. Please join our movement to put pressure on local politicians to do their job.

We go to work, pay our taxes, and serve our communities. Economic segregation is a real thing. Please politically support us. Like, comment, share and DM me for more information on how you can help.

This is exactly why we need a third party. Some large percentage of the country is politically homeless.
Joe Rogan and Bridget Phetasy discuss how being strictly Republican or strictly Democrat is dumb: Phetasy: “First I watched everyone on the left lose their minds and then people on the right lost theirs, I was having the same conversations with both of them saying, ‘it’s gonna be fine, it’s not the end of the world.’” Rogan: “The only people that make any sense are the ones that aren’t on either team. People that say things like ‘as a conservative,’ it’s like your a human being don’t say it that way and don’t think it that way. Don’t put yourself in a group. There’s probably a bunch of stuff that the left agrees with that you would agree with too. You can’t be against ideas because you attached them to the enemy.” This is so important! We need to end this tribal thinking. You can be a pro life left leaning person. You can be a pro Palestine right leaning person. Don’t group yourself into aligning specifically with everything one political party believes. Believe what you truly believe, and take the bits and pieces from whatever side of the political spectrum you want.

We came together with Councilman, and Mayor Pro Tem Brenden Kalfus, council candidates Matt Rahn and Eric Faulkner to host the very first Town Hall all about workforce housing. Solving the housing problem takes brave and educated leadership as well as community engagement.

Are you wondering what a Town Hall meeting is? It's an opportunity for you to meet with local elected officials and discuss important issues that affect the community. Most elected officials have no idea what the problems are or how to fix them, and they need your help.

Local government has the power to make housing attainable for the workforce. I know this isn’t sexy. Ideally, I could persuade Jennifer Lopez and Salma Hayek to make out as I explain WHY government caused the housing crisis. Until then, follow @CommunityUpward to learn more.
