A privilege to interview Dr Frank Veith about his memoir. Here he gives advice to the next generation of #vascular surgeons on how to survive in the medical jungle. @VEITHsymposium
I think we need to move away from the ‘one is better than the other’ mantra and accept these as complimentary therapies. The key surely is who benefits most from which (or conservative) treatment? Perhaps COMPASS will actually show our current selection pathways are working.
In this case I see general agreement across studies. One treatment is safer but demonstrably less effective over time. With improvements the gap will close . The reality today in the US is rampant off IFU use even in good risk pts
Thank you to those attending our session at @VSGBI ASM this morning. Lots of interesting discussion on our results. If a AAA is off-IFU for standard EVAR, how should we treat it? Every case in England over 2 years analysed…
This is compelling, particularly since the patient capture is so good. I’m trying to wrap my head around the mechanism here. This is a story that needs to be told. Great work!

Congratulations to @Colinbicknell who has been appointed @BSETnews President! He will formally take over from @rebellvascular at our Annual Meeting on the 24th June.
More than 7000 CT scans put through @ComplexAAAStudy core lab! Is this the biggest academic core lab anywhere? Well done @shaneelpatel_dr; @dcormesher and Al Crosher 👏
