PAN-AFRICAN SOLIDARITY STATEMENT: Africa Will Not Be Silent: Pan-African Solidarity to End the Bloodshed and Demand Justice for Tanzanians

PRESS STATEMENT: LIBERALIZE GUN RIGHTS, EXPOSE AND PROSECUTE TERRORIST FINANCIERS AND PROMOTERS, SAY NO TO US INVASION Even as President Donald Trump’s administration is threatening war against violent Islamist extremists in Nigeria, the country continues to lose more lives to the satanic advance of ethnoreligious terrorists and expansionists. The value of human life in Nigeria is lost daily to the sea of statistics on the gruesomely killed. 2. Nigerians must reject the elitist propaganda and blackmail to rationalize the continuous massacre of tens of thousands of peace-loving families and individuals under the guise of false patriotism. Nothing about these persistent terroristic onslaughts is normal nor acceptable. 3. The Nigerian Armed Forces, despite their best efforts, have proved incapable of beating this fundamentally homegrown threat to the Nigerian State and People, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is now a worthless title unceremoniously borne by the Nigerian President under the All Progressives Congress. 4. The overwhelming majority of communities that have repeatedly suffered these attacks are Christian, animist, and other non-Muslim communities. Nonetheless, external invasion under any guise, whether by the United States or any other Great Power, is not in the interest of ordinary Nigerians and the African continent. 5. Nigerian lawmakers must now swiftly pass the self-defense and firearms ownership regulation Bill, formally known as the Bill for an Act to Alter the Firearms Act (As Altered) to Provide for Self Defense and Personal Firearm Ownership and for Related Matters, sponsored by Senator Ned Nwoko, a Muslim lawmaker representing Delta North Senatorial District. The liberalization of gun rights in Nigeria will empower vulnerable communities and individuals to defend themselves against terrorists and petty criminals. 6. Both Houses of the National Assembly must urgently form a Joint Committee on Internal Security and Terrorist Enablers, with the sole purpose of exposing and fully prosecuting financiers and promoters of terrorism in Nigeria. Characters like Sheikh Ahmad Gumi and his associates must be interrogated and made to account for their abnormal public statements and energetic support of terrorists massacring innocent Nigerians in the name of their religion and ethnicity. 7. Sovereignty is a responsibility, and the Nigerian political class must act swiftly and dutifully to protect Nigeria’s before what is left of the country is shattered by self-interested Western powers. We condemn the illegal arrest of Mr. @sowore Omoyele Sowore by Nigeria's security services and demand his immediate release. We equally condemn the arrests of peaceful #FreeNnamdiKanu protesters, including one of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyers, Alloy Ejimakor and his brother, Emmanuel Kanu. We demand their immediate and unconditional release. We say no to the unchecked assault on Nigerian democracy under the Tinubu regime and urge Nigerians to speak up for those who are fighting to maintain some sanity in our society. We also use this opportunity to restate our commitment to the immediate release of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, who, due to his persecution by the Nigerian state and judiciary, has now taken on the onerous task of defending himself, like Ken Saro-Wiwa before him. Na so. Did Sowore stop you from protesting? Are you aware that Yemi Adamolekun was stopped and harassed today for taking a flower to the tollgate? Why didn’t you join her? Or is Sowore the sole organiser of protests? Even in Sowore protests, you’ll find anti protesters doing their own on one side. Nobody get monopoly for protests, put your chest there. When Sowore was protesting for EndSARS, you guys were selling the same story of him wanting to hijack the protest. You berated him for his ‘’beret’’. Yet he continued even after the protests. Are you not tired of excuses and theories? Isn’t it interesting that you are attacking Sowore for lending his voice for the release of Kanu? Just to let you know or remind you that Kanu also called for the release of Sowore when Sowore was detained over 5 months by the Nigerian government. So, not out of place that Sowore is doing same for him. Even if Sowore didn’t have prior relationship with NK, he would have done so without hesitation, in his usual manner of speaking up against injustice. This minute Sowore is irrelevant , the next minute he is CIA agent . I understand activists have to face different allegations .At least ,if you are not facing BBL allegations, you are facing CIA allegation because of what’s ‘’behind ‘’ them. In another one hour ,’’Sowore is working for APC’’. Does he need your permission to work for APC if he chooses to? Are there not people working openly for APC that you know? What have you done about them? The likes of Malami SAN frustrated the ENDSARS movement when they were in government, are they not back to patronising people? You have never seen Sowore in open/closed door with APC nor fire exit with them but you keep carrying same story as a coping tool for your docility. ‘’Sowore is doing it for clout’’, E bad if you sef organise protests for clout? Make the best protester win one carton of cabin biscuit? Yes, criticise Sowore’s methods but you can’t match his resilience and courage to speaking truth to power and injustice.

1. On 1 Oct. 2008, police officers of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad shot Modebayo Awosika in the head and then set his car on fire. 2. An autopsy showed that he had died of a gunshot. But police told the coroner that Modebayo Awosika’s car hit the police patrol vehicle.
