I was honored to join my colleagues on the House steps to wear orange in memory of Hadiya Pendleton and every life taken or forever changed by gun violence.
Orange is a symbol of safety—and a reminder that our children, our neighbors, and our communities deserve to live free from the threat of gun violence.
Gun violence is a public health crisis, and Congress has a responsibility to act.

I am heartbroken by the news of the 5-year-old girl swept away by the rough surf in Laguna Beach. As a parent of young children, I can’t even imagine the grief that her family is feeling. My thoughts are with them and the first responders who searched tirelessly for her.
Our SoCal beaches are experiencing dangerous surf and rip current conditions today. Please heed warnings from lifeguards, the Coast Guard, and local officials, and stay out of the water if conditions are unsafe.

The COVID-19 lockdown ended 5 years ago. Trump and the GOP have controlled every branch of government for the past 18 months. And inflation is now HIGHER than it was when Biden left office, entirely due to the economically illiterate policies of Grandpa Trump and his very very stupid advisors.

Alexis, Meghan, Kirsten, Jordan, Emmanuel, and Elaf played an important role in helping our office serve CA-47 for the last few months, and I am so grateful for their hard work and dedication. I can’t wait to see where their careers take them next.

Today, Congress took the first step to ending the illegal Iran War by passing a War Powers Resolution and asserting our exclusive Constitutional authority to declare or not declare war.

I’m proud to introduce the Offshore Leasing Standards and Accountability Act and the Ending Fossil Fuel Bailouts Act to strengthen oversight of offshore drilling and stop fossil fuel companies from using bankruptcy to abandon their environmental responsibilities.

Bill Pulte spent the last year illegally using the Federal Housing Finance Agency to go after Trump’s critics. Now, Trump is appointing Pulte, who has ZERO intelligence experience, as Director of Natl Intelligence.
Pulte’s appointment would make us all less safe from foreign and domestic terrorist threats, and would serve exactly one purpose- to further weaponize the federal government against anyone who speaks out against Dear Leader.
I urge my Senate colleagues to use any and all tools available to stop this dangerous appointment.

A new park in Costa Mesa! I was so proud to join Costa Mesa leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Shalimar Park, a project I was proud to help fund during my time in the State Senate.
As a former kid (yes it’s true) and the father of three young ones, I know the importance of having safe public spaces where families can gather and kids can play and explore their imaginations.

I was proud to host our Service Academy send-off to recognize the students who have committed to attending the U.S. Military Academy, Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy.
These students represent the very best of Orange County, and we thank them for answering the call to lead and serve as our nation’s future military officers.

Happy Jewish American Heritage Month! This month, we celebrate the contributions of Jewish Americans to this country’s cultural fabric.
I had the opportunity to visit the Chabad Center for Jewish Life in Newport Beach and learn more about the Museum of Tolerance they are building—a space rooted in remembrance, education, and our shared responsibility to confront hate in all its forms.
At a time when anti-Semitism is rising to alarming levels, this message of stamping out hate and remembering our past is so important.
