I would like to thank everyone in the city of Chattanooga who have supported me throughout the years. But it's time for me to step down from congress. I've enjoyed the 13 years of service I've given back to the city. I trust in the remaining public officials to handle things.

Today’s indictments are just the latest confirmation that Russia interfered with our elections. We need to put a stop to this threat to our democracy, and this shouldn’t be a partisan issue. -PM

DACA was destroyed by you, Mr. President. But you don't see that. The republican party is working hard at sabotaging the poor, nothing more. x.com/realDonaldTrump/status…

Cannot believe how BADLY DACA recipients have been treated by the Democrats...totally abandoned! Republicans are still working hard.

I'm a little late to this, but the violence such as what happened in the Florida high school was an atrocity, and cannot be permitted in any school. #KeepOurChildrenSafe

If Republicans actually listened to those in need, like Cara Sachs, maybe they would understand that "entitlement reform" will devastate the lives of millions of Americans.

This isn’t about transparency, this is just another attempt to undermine and discredit the Russia investigation, Deputy AG Rosenstein, and the hard-working men & women of the FBI — and another attempt to protect President Trump.

The release of the Nunes memo is a blatant attempt by House Republicans and the White House to disrupt the critically important investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Congress voted 517-5 to impose sanctions on Russia. The President decides to ignore that law. Folks that is a constitutional crisis. There should be outrage in every corner of this country.

We have pressing issues to resolve, yet Republicans want to waste time on an extreme, ideological attack on women’s health and rights. I’m heading to the floor to make clear this bill is a nonstarter. #NoAbortionBan

I'm very disappointed that the Republicans chose to shut down the government. Leader McConnell insisted on going forward with a doomed vote rather than negotiating a serious agreement with the Democrats and Republicans who opposed him.

The government has now been shut down thanks to the malignant Donald Trump and his oligarchal GOP. This is an outrage, and I hope that the democrats in the Senate come to their senses.

The GOP is shameless. First with the repeal of the affordable care act, followed by the recent tax cuts. And now they intend to attack the social safety net. How far will republicans go before they destroy the poverty and even the common folk of America?
