The History of Connolly Books The culture of 1930s Ireland were not receptive to socialist ideas. From the first Coercion Act (1930) under the Free State government of William Cosgrave's Cumann na nGaedheal to de Valera's @fiannafailparty, socialism was considered subversive.

First Thornberry. Now this one. They know a reckoning is coming, and they're scrambling to save themselves. But the archives don't forget - and they don't lie.
The concerns I raised about Gaza - including distressing eyewitness accounts from UK medics - were a result of moral urgency, not 'mid life crisis'. It felt like hitting a brick wall at the time - now I know how casually those concerns were dismissed. theguardian.com/politics/202…

This is so revealing and good. Next time a pundit or politician in Ireland pronounces about China, ask them to name three famous Chinese people.
This is genuinely incredible and says SO SO MUCH about the perception of China in the West. This is the #1 news show in France, and the host - David Pujadas - asks the pundits around the table (a sample of the top media figures in France) if they can name 3 living Chinese people. That's it: they just need to say the names of 3 living Chinese people, anyone. This should be extremely easy. Yet not of a single one of them can name a single Chinese beyond Xi Jinping. They do not know a single living Chinese person beyond the president. That's the level of ignorance of China we're dealing with in the West today, in 2026. This is the source for the video: tf1info.fr/replay-lci/videos… Aired live yesterday 28th of May 2026.

The government's housing strategy is working as designed. The strategy was and is to strengthen the hand and power of finance capital. Their strategy was to prioritise private landlordism both corporate and small multible owners over tenants. rte.ie/news/ireland/2026/052…

This Friday will mark two years since we played the Palestinian National team at a sold-out Dalymount Park. ❤️🖤🇵🇸 It was a great match, it raised a huge amount for 3 Palestinian charities, but it was much more than that. For all those present it was a moment beyond football, it was a demonstration of the very best of sport. Over the course of several days connections were made between our club and Palestine than endure and have strengthened. The Palestinian players were welcomed to the Mansion House by the Lord Mayor of Dublin and to the Áras by the President of Ireland. We heard their stories of living under brutal apartheid in the West Bank, and we heard about the horrors of Gaza. Later this year Ireland is due to play Israel - get behind the #StopTheGame campaign and oppose playing an apartheid state.
