It’s David Attenborough’s 98th birthday today and I was lucky enough to meet him on a habitat conservation project last year.
My mum had met him a few years earlier and had always held it over me, so it was mainly just a relief to get even with her!
I’m excited to be working with @WWTLondon to bring my #QueerEcology walks to London Wetland Centre in June. I’ve had over 650 people join my walks over the last year and it’s always exciting to bring them to a new space.

I recently gave a TEDx talk about the importance of taking time to notice the little things (bugs). You can watch it here ted.com/talks/connor_butler_…
Raking Bad!
You never know who you’ll bump into in @theroyalparks.
Our learning teams today assisted Hollywood star @aaronpaul_8 after his friend accidently dropped a phone into the Italian Gardens in Kensington Gardens. Thankfully it was retrieved before 'Breaking Bad'....
Wow! The amazing TedxSouthamptonUniversity Event took place on our Highfield campus the other day.
Thank you to all our incredible speakers for the messages shared ✨

Where possible we leave standing dead wood and fallen timber in @theroyalparks as it's essential for the lifecycle of many invertebrates. We've also been building loggeries to provide habitat for Stag Beetles thanks to players of @PostcodeLottery. Dead wood is good!
It's been sad to see so many trees fall during the storm, but the death of one tree can be the beginning of life for countless other tiny forms. We made a video about why deadwood is good and why we should leave it in our parks and gardens

On #ValentinesDay & every day…
Dung beetles love poo.
They need lots of livestock,
& undisturbed soils too.
Let’s conserve all their species,
Practice a reduction in treatments
& look after that faeces!
