Spot on, @AdamMGrant When a leader doesn’t hear about problems, it rarely means there aren’t any. Instead, it signals that people don’t feel comfortable speaking up. This is why #PsychologicalSafety is so critical for fostering healthy and honest communication

What stops us from speaking truth to power is not a desire for harmony. It’s a climate of fear and futility. When leaders fail to make it safe and worthwhile to be honest, we bite our tongues. Weak leaders stifle dissent and leave themselves weaker. Strong leaders welcome dissent and make themselves stronger. nytimes.com/2024/07/14/opini…

An @NHSEngland report on "NHS Productivity" in May 2024 highlights the growing % of NHS staff who are new/inexperienced as a barrier to productivity & the need to get them up the learning curve faster. New research suggests one catalyst for learning that is often lacking at this critical early career stage: psychological safety (PS). PS is needed for people to learn, collaborate & perform at work. People lose their sense of PS when they start a new job & it can take years to recover. However, departments with high PS reduce that decline & facilitate recovery: hbr.org/2024/07/research-new…. Convo with daughter re her 1st vote in the "Genny leccy" (her words). Her POV: no one appeals directly to her generation, Manifestos are all long words she doesn't understand. They all talk utter crap. Would rather watch Love Island! Good job I'm her proxy vote!!

These are awesome stories told by @UHSFT staff past and present, from the Windrush Generation to today, thank you to them for taking part. A fantastic project, we were so proud to work with everyone involved.
Today is #WindrushDay πŸ“½οΈ Earlier this year we had the honour of working alongside @bhmsouth on the amazing 'Then & Now' films, which showcase the contributions of the Windrush generation both to our Trust and the wider national health service. πŸ’™ 🎞️ πŸ‘‰ youtube.com/@bhmsouth3731

People continue to say their appraisal doesn't make them feel valued and doesn't help them reach their potential. Give this a try from @Haypsych you might find it helps create a really valuable appraisal conversation! @UHSFT @SotonChildHosp @UHS_OrgDev
This is your annual reminder that appraisals needn't be boring and tick-box. Here are my ideas for 10 things to discuss at #appraisal You can ask the appraisee to think about as many of these in advance as they'd like #management #sketchnote

In challenging times, I always find it helpful to go back to the original principles of why we are here & what drives us, as a reminder of what we should be trying to achieve together πŸ™ #NHSConstitution
