I am aware that quite a lot of people here have started visiting mound sites because they post photos. If you start visiting mounds as a hobby or just out of interest, one thing I recommend is to keep a journal of field notes. You can use a small notebook or whatever. What are germanium crystals used for?
Presently, the major end uses are fibre-optic systems, infrared optics, solar cell applications, and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Germanium compounds are also used for polymerization catalysts and have most recently found use in the production of nanowires.
