The contradiction in the publication by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), funded by George Soros, is striking. This organization, which should be dedicated to protecting press freedom, has expressed support for the persecution initiated by Judge Alexandre de Moraes. Judge Moraes has opened an investigation against journalist Allan dos Santos, who had exposed the collusion between journalist Juliana Dal Piva and the abuses committed by Moraes.
A non-governmental organization bearing the name "Committee to Protect Journalists" should be dedicated to safeguarding press freedom, not defending the criminal involvement of journalists with public authorities who use their positions to persecute and censor their critics.
Since October 2021, Terça Livre TV and journalist Allan dos Santos have been under total censorship within Brazilian territory, a consequence of an illegal investigation conducted by Judge Moraes with no respect for due process. Such severe measures have never before occurred in Brazil, even during the military regime era.
The actions of the CPJ in this context reveal a troubling contradiction: an organization intended to protect journalists is instead supporting actions that undermine press freedom and enable the misuse of power by public officials.
