Class of 26 long snapper @CorbinTesh26 made the trip from North Carolina to Eau Claire WI to chase perfection! Corbin was brand new to Special Teams U and wanted to see what he could improve on. He had gotten himself to a point where he was fairly consistent but struggled with ball speed. There were 2 main reasons he wasn’t hitting the speeds he wanted to. The first was that he was trying to be overly aggressive which was throwing off his kinetic sequence. He was also very unbalanced with his hands which was forcing him to throw predominantly with his right hand. This was slowing down the rotations of his ball as well as how much propulsion it had leaving his hands. We started by making subtle corrections to his grip to allow both hands to work more simultaneously. Drilled those in and saw improvement! We then turned our focus to his sequencing and body control. Once Corbin was able to create more flow and a better block we saw an instant increase in his ball speed! It’s not about how quickly you get the ball out of your hands! In throwing in general, how you accelerate and the positions you hit mean much more than simply “hot potato-ing” the ball out of your hands.
