Alabama Football Graduation rate 17 years under Coach Saban. 97%. 656 undergraduate degrees. 103 Master’s. Saban is disliked by many for the same polarizing reason a team like the Yankees is hated. He’s not for everyone. He is for me. I’m convinced he cares about the game, and pushing kids towards an education and life skills development to better their future. The cheating rumors are old news. Worthless social media noise. Show me the receipts. CFB has no centralized leadership. At least he is trying. @SportBeatTweet @UA_CoachBallou @makennahsdad @TimBrando @AlabamaFTBL @NILnotNLI @Greg_Byrne

Seth, it’s not just lobbyists, but also Private Equity companies that are likely involved and as a result we’re seeing some discrepancies within the ranks especially down south. However, when it comes to Saban, I’m comfortable based on my years of discussions with him, that he genuinely wants to see things calm down, and he wants to help those Coaches he left behind upon his retirement. Some scribes are amazed that he’s the mouthpiece before Congress for a bill that neither the @SEC nor @espn want adopted into law. I actually believe Nick doesn’t waver from being on opposite sides of both when it comes to the longterm future of College🏈and Athletics in general.
I honestly don't know how things in Congress got so off track. The purpose of legislation was to carve out the bare minimum antitrust exemption so the NCAA could enforce the basic outlines of the House settlement. When did the whole thing become about narrowing the gap between the Big Ten/SEC and everyone else? And preventing a super league? Why don't we start with the smallest stuff and work our way bigger? This whole thing is supposed to get passed by August 1 and they are debating something that wasn't supposed to be at the center of this debate.

People really believe Coach Saban had to throw money around to get top recruits. Being developed by the best, competing for national championships every year, and all the NFL draft picks was the selling point. The dynasty spoke for itself. Was a no brainer once I got my offer 😂
NEW: Nick Saban detailed how much Alabama’s NIL collective spent every year for the past five years in Wednesday’s hearing about the Protect College Sports Act. (via CommerceRepublicans/TT h/t @whalexander_) on3.com/news/nick-saban-deta…

Truth. For those attacking Saban for trying to do what he believes is best for all of college sports (revenue and Olympic) while players still get paid a lot-seek help @finebaum. No coach in college sports history has created wealth for players like Nick Saban. No one is close.
Jun 3
Nick Saban’s Alabama players (2007-2023) produced 133 NFL draft picks who’ve earned ~$3 billion in career earnings so far. LSU under Saban added dozens more pros (e.g. Andrew Whitworth’s long career). These student-athletes received scholarships, elite development & exposure. Many turned it into generational wealth — the opposite of exploitation. The numbers speak for themselves.

I’d say 65 to 70%of this bill is exactly what’s needed and much credit to @sabanfaux for taking the time to deliver accordingly. The part that’s problematic and will likely upset the @SEC & @bigten is when it comes to enforcement not being theirs, but written into the bill. @SenTedCruz admittedly allowed @SenatorCantwell to write that portion of the bill, and to get the bill thru that was imo a good idea. However we shouldn’t be surprised that the @SEC & @bigten are against that aspect of the bill. Here’s the conundrum tho, if ya want to govern and enforce rules yourself but need the antitrust exemptions to get CFB where it needs to be? Ya gotta give up something? If they get the 60 votes and Cruz believes he can find them, he and his handful of Democrats will give them what’s needed for guard rails, but it’ll mean what @GregSankey always said, “we need congressional help” for years will be another quote that meant very little in the end.
Nick Saban, discussing collectives, outlines what Alabama was working with Says he had $2.7 million in his first year of NIL, then $7 million, and then $10 million. After he retired, he said it jumped to $17 million, then $24 million. “Now you have schools at $40 million”
