#FACTCHECK: A video is being circulated reporting to show a Maltese-flagged tanker navigating the Strait of Hormuz. However, reverse searches show this exact video was circulating on social media more than seven weeks ago. There is no evidence it was recorded during the event currently being claimed.
BREAKING: THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ HAS REPORTEDLY REOPENED Footage reportedly shows the first Maltese-flagged gas tanker passing through the Strait of Hormuz after the US/Iran deal was announced. - Yedioth

Reports circulating that the Bab al-Mandab strait are not fully accurate. While Iran's Houthi allies restrict Israeli-linked ships, Iran doesn't geographically control the strait to close it entirely.
🚨 BREAKING Officially, the Bab al-Mandab Strait has been completely closed to Israel."

Think this is less about the UAE actually needing a backstop (it doesn't) and more about symbolism: paradoxically it can signal both frustration (with having to bear the cost of the war) and a desire for a closer relationship And this is the tell: "Emirati officials told the US officials that if the UAE runs short of dollars, it may be forced to use Chinese yuan or other countries' currencies for oil sales and other transactions." For Gulf states the "if you don't do X, we'll turn to China instead" routine is a tried-and-true way to get Washington's attention, even though it's often a hollow threat wsj.com/world/middle-east/u-…

Interesting WSJ story about the Emirates request for a swap line -- the UAE hasn't reported its end March reserves but it went into the conflict with tons of reserves and no shortage of liquid bills in US custodians 1/

#FACTCHECK: This photo is likely AI and does not trace to any building in Dubai. The fire trucks do not match the yellow designs on Dubai civil service vehicles. There is distortion around the ladder as well as other nonsensical shapes in the image.

Today I used the Emirates terminal in Dubai. Contrary to the videos circulating on social media, there was hardly any congestion. Check-in was extremely smooth and swift, and the flight departed on time. The aircraft itself was full. Just a reminder: don’t believe everything you see on social media. Verify before forming an opinion.

#FACTCHECK: This video circulating is likely AI, there are a number of inconsistencies throughout. The video shows multiple identical warships docked next to each other - which does not match the current situation at the US fifth fleet HQ (see image), there is also a generic sign that is missing a name and uses miles in a country that uses Km. Moreover, there is no sign of a rocket or drone causing the enormous explosions shown.

The claim that 90% of the UAE's desalinated water comes from a single plant is false. While a majority of the nation's drinking water is indeed sourced from desalination, this production is spread across numerous large-scale industrial complexes such as Al Taweelah, Jebel Ali, and Hassyan to ensure redundancy and meet high demand.

The utter misinformation and fear mongering on this post is appalling! It's one of the easiest road trips all year around that some people do it on weekends just to have fun in Muscat or Dubai. I have lived in both cities and it is typical to see cars with DXB/MCT on the road.
Absolute sensationalist rubbish here from @thetimes. It does not cost 5-10k to drive to Oman unless you’re an idiot. Why would you need ex-military drivers? Where do they think Oman is? Afghanistan?

#FACTCHECK: The claim that Dubai has run out of fresh food is untrue. While fresh produce is at immediate risk due to its short shelf life and the inability to reroute it, this does not imply a total exhaustion of all food categories.
