Bit of help please folks!......for UK-based folk.
Insect splat on your cars this spring. Have you found it:
- Same as normal?
- Less than normal?
- More than normal?
If you could say what part of the country you're in that would be helpful too 🙂
THANKS!
All the volunteers in the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team would like to wish our supporters and followers a very merry and safe Christmas.
The photograph, taken by team member Paul Noble, was the winner of our 2024 photography competition.
Looks like we'll make it to 14th December with the month running bang on my long term average. Expect that to lurch upwards in the next week, however. #Fife
Ooo, just popped out for firewood and happened to see the best shooting star I've seen in ages! 😀 Very bright, maybe 2 or 3 seconds in duration. In the western sky.
‘Poorly performing scrubland’, whatever that is, seems to be a target in the new planning regulations 🙄 No surprise there. Pretty much every single planning application I reviewed for access/biodiversity impacts in my last job employed ‘scrub’ in a derogatory context.
Today's (11th December) maximum temperatures and anomalies (compared to '91-'20 average) from the 03xxx SYNOP sites.
#Hawarden Airport was the warmest location with a max #temperature of 12.4C.

Surreal, spring-like conditions in the Cairngorms today. Warm, sunny and snowy......and not a breath of wind. Really didn't want to come down, but I hung around up high till after sunset 🙂

🧵⬇️Stats are in for November in the Lomond Hills. Despite being my frostiest Nov, and having the coldest Nov night of my dataset, the 15-day warmth at the start of the month meant Nov's overall average of 5.8C was still 0.3C above my long average for the calendar month.
As seems to be the trend in recent years, there were no days with gales (average wind speed of 40mph), but a high gust of 53.7mph was recorded on the 25th. Rainfall for the month was just 20.5mm.
Here's the updated visual representation of my weather dataset. Shows the last 167 calendar months in the Lomond Hills vs my long-term average (Dec 2010 on the far left, Nov 2024 on the far right).
Blue = colder than average
Green = equal to average
Red = warmer than average
