A three-judge panel on the D.C. Circuit last night including federal judge Katsas, who was nominated by President Trump and confirmed by Senate in 2017 and 2 judges Millet & Wilkins both nominated by President Obama, denied Trump’s bid of an emergency of Judge Cooper's order to remove Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center.

President Trump today officially nominated Jay Clayton to be the next DNI, sending his nomination formally to the U.S. Senate before adjourning for the week. His nomination now heads to the Senate Intelligence Committee. The White House also withdrew Clayton's pending nomination as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, the Manhattan-based post he's been serving in since August.

House next returns for votes on Tuesday, June 23. Later that week, the House plans to consider 2 more of the 12 spending bills for 2027, funding the State & Energy Departments. The House plans to also take up the 2027 NDAA defense programs and policy bill the week of June 29 prior to the July 4th holiday recess.

Senate Intel Chair Cotton (R-AR) asked unanimous consent to pass legislation extend FISA 702 surveillance authority deadline past Friday's deadline for 3 weeks: "The responsible next step is to have a short-term extension of this legislation, especially as we begin welcoming literally millions of foreigners to this country for the World Cup & for the America 250 celebrations right around the corner. If we don't extend it for at least a few weeks while we continue to work on our differences, the consequences could be severe. The consequences, to be frank, could be fatal. Wyden (D-OR) objected.

So, my understanding is that you can't do anything. Bipartisan majorities in the House & in the Senate have now rejected, what I consider to be, the surveillance status quo...The only viable path forward is one that leads to real reforms."
