🚨TRAGEDY IN PEÑOL-GUATAPÉ: ACCIDENT OR MURDER?
On May 24, 2026, Alexander Avendaño Varela, a 22-year-old from Medellín, lost his life in the waters of the El Peñol-Guatapé reservoir during a party on a flat-bottomed boat.
Initially, it was reported that he had jumped into the water without a life jacket while intoxicated. However, released videos show a heated argument and prior aggression: punches, shoves, and shouts of "Drown him!" from several companions. Alexander, visibly frightened and at times without pants, ends up jumping into the water to escape the beating. He couldn't swim well, and no one came to his aid immediately.
Her body was recovered days later. The Prosecutor's Office and authorities are investigating the case as a possible homicide with third-party involvement.
