Winning Cultures are Different.
Some things do NOT happen.
What are these?
Here are 7 things you do NOT find in Winning Cultures:
1: Short Cuts - There are no shortcuts to success, ever. Team leaders do not allow others to shortchange the team. Winning cultures follow through and know that success is a process. They know that Habits Win.
2: Bad-Mouthing Teammates - Leaders confront others who talk badly of teammates. They know that one person doing this can create a toxic culture. They know the importance of team unity for the success of a season. Winning cultures are all about WE.
3: Complaining about Coaches - This is another one that will sabotage a team. When players are allowed to complain about coaching in the locker room, it affects the entire team. Winning cultures do not do this, and team leaders do not allow it.
4: Making Excuses - Allowing excuses is a surefire way to create a losing culture. Winning cultures do not allow the finger to be pointed at others. They are focused on self-accountability and team accountability, and leaders ensure this happens.
5: Quitting - Quitting is a habit. If you quit in a small area of your life, would you quit on your team? Quitting is non-negotiable on championship teams. Competing until the end, win or lose, is the mindset of winning programs.
6: Disrespecting the Program - The program is bigger than any individual. Leaders do not allow teammates to do anything that will disrespect the program. They confront these if they see them happening.
7: Dividing the Team - Finally, anything that divides the team needs to be addressed. Great team leaders are cognizant of this and address them as they occur. Team sports are different. They are about sacrifice, commitment, and dedication to something bigger than self.
