Humour me please and answer this, because maybe you are not the smartest person in this thread.
What’s the point of a minimum wage increase when most struggling Australians would receive more benefit from a 20% reduction in rental prices, or hell, even indexation on taxes so wages don’t degrade over time?
A full time worker going from the old minimum wage to the new 26.44 an hour, gets around ~$40 a week benefit. Using averages, rentals have blown out $30/wk, electricity $6/wk, groceries $15/wk, fuel $7/wk.
Thats $50 a week in things the government does not attempt to effectively halt.
You know who does make $37 more per week with this that’s not offset by those things? Labor. That’s the only reason they did this. To draw in almost the same in payroll and income taxes and the employees get themselves.
Seriously. Stop with the Labor vs everyone else bullshit and read this and think. Is this right?
