Research teams now run the same Fuzzball workflow on AWS, GCP, Oracle, CoreWeave, Azure, and on-prem. Unmodified. Fuzzball 4.0: Native parallel file system integration. Built-in object cache container registry. One platform. CIQ founder and CEO Gregory Kurtzer: "What we have built is the supersuit for scientific computing: a powerful HPC and AI platform, finally as easy to deploy, operate, and scale as the science demands." Organizations consume HPC and AI as a capability. The engineering project disappears. Read the full announcement: bit.ly/4v7yH9t #HPC #AI #Fuzzball #MultiCloud

Enterprise GPU fleets run at roughly 5% utilization. AWS just raised H200 pricing 15%, breaking a 20-year pattern of falling compute costs. The organizations that lead the AI era will not be the ones buying more GPUs. CIQ founder Greg Kurtzer on what the infrastructure gap actually looks like right now, and what it takes to close it from the kernel up. Most people have heard the term. Fewer can explain what it actually means. High-performance computing (HPC) is the practice of aggregating computing power to solve problems too large or too complex for a standard workstation. Think climate modeling, drug discovery, genomics, particle physics, and increasingly, AI training and inference at scale. If the workload requires massive parallelism, low-latency interconnects, and coordinated scheduling across hundreds or thousands of nodes, that is HPC. It is also the foundation CIQ was built on. From Rocky Linux to Warewulf to Fuzzball, everything we build is designed for the environments where compute performance is the difference between a breakthrough and a bottleneck. Before Rocky Linux, there was CentOS. And before CentOS, there was a biochemist who thought his business partner was mispronouncing Unix. The Register sat down with CIQ founder Greg Kurtzer for the full origin story: how a rebuild mailing list, a supercomputing conference in Phoenix, and a lot of community frustration turned into the enterprise world's default operating system. A great read for anyone who has ever run CentOS, worked on a RHEL-compatible distro, or just loves a good open source origin story. At Open Source Summit 2026, we skipped the raffle. Anyone who wanted one of our four NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nanos had to pitch us: what would you actually build with it? The answers were worth hearing. An automated lecture pipeline for university faculty. A tool to finally review safety protocols that have not been touched in decades. Targeted SLMs for software development tasks. And a real-time social coaching tool for a parent's neurodivergent son. Every board left Minneapolis with RLC Pro AI installed, our enterprise Linux distribution built for AI, machine learning, and HPC workloads. Installation to first inference in under four minutes. Three critical kernel CVEs in three weeks. Zero customers who had to chase a status update. That consistency does not happen by accident. CIQ VP of Marketing Lindsay Aamodt tells the story behind how the team responded, and what it means to have a partner who is already watching the kernel while you are focused on building. Not all Enterprise Linux is built the same. CIQ offers two RLC Pro variants, and choosing the right one depends on what your infrastructure actually demands. In this breakdown, @itguyeric walks through RLC Pro AI (built for sovereign AI, GPU-accelerated workloads, and HPC) versus RLC Pro Hardened (built for finance, defense, healthcare, and automated regulatory compliance): bit.ly/4o7Om5P #EnterpriseLinux #AI #HPC #RockyLinux #CIQ

You do not need to tear down your HPC cluster to modernize it. On June 18, the CIQ team is running a live, hands-on session showing how Fuzzball fits the infrastructure you already operate. No forklift upgrade required. You will see how to connect to Lustre, GPFS, and BeeGFS through volume provisioners with POSIX permissions intact, cache workflow data inside the platform, build container images from within the workflow, and run the same workflow on-prem and in the cloud without modification. If you run HPC or research computing infrastructure and have questions about your own environment, bring them. The floor opens for Q&A. Five clouds used to mean five deployment pipelines, five IAM models, and five sets of operational overhead. Not anymore. CIQ today announced full multi-cloud support for Fuzzball across CoreWeave, AWS, GCP, OCI, and Azure. Define your AI or HPC workflow once and Fuzzball routes each job to the optimal environment based on cost, performance, and data locality, from one control plane: bit.ly/49FlCvi #HPC #AI #MultiCloud #Fuzzball #CIQ

Your HPC workflow shouldn't care what cloud it runs on. With Fuzzball now running natively on Microsoft Azure, it doesn't. Chris Wolford breaks down how a single command stands up a production-grade AKS cluster on Azure, and what true multi-cloud portability looks like when you can span AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure, and bare metal in a single federated deployment: bit.ly/3RIuVo8 #HPC #AI #MultiCloud #Azure #Fuzzball

Your Secure Boot certificate is not expiring in June. Here is what is actually happening. Microsoft is rotating the UEFI CA certificate used to sign Linux shims. Compliance scanners are flagging it. The technical risk to existing systems is zero; Secure Boot firmware does not validate certificate expiration dates at boot time. But there are forward-looking planning items worth understanding, particularly for cloud VMs provisioned before the rotation and anyone running TPM-backed disk encryption. Arsalan Zaidi breaks it down clearly: what the rotation means, what CIQ is doing about it, and for most customers, why the answer is nothing. Third-party validation matters. @TheFuturumGroup analyst Alastair Cooke took a close look at CIQ's federal cryptographic compliance platform and what it means for regulated enterprises navigating FIPS, CMMC, and post-quantum requirements. The analysis covers the market stakes, the competitive landscape, and the real questions CIQ will need to answer as federal standards continue to evolve. Worth a read if you are tracking where Enterprise Linux compliance is heading. Read the full analyst take: bit.ly/4o6AV6m #EnterpriseLinux #Compliance #FIPS #PostQuantum #CyberSecurity #RockyLinux

The operating system underneath your workloads sets the ceiling for everything above it. Compliance posture, AI performance, long-term security coverage -- it all begins at the OS layer. In May 2026, three critical local privilege escalation vulnerabilities arrived within three weeks. Copy Fail, Dirty Frag, Fragnesia. Each time, CIQ delivered Knowledge Base guidance to customers the same day disclosure hit, with patched kernels reaching production ahead of other distributions. One customer security lead put it plainly: "Every time I thought I was going to have to start making calls, there was already a KB article and someone on your team reaching out." That is the support model RLC Pro is built on. LTS, FIPS 140-3, GPU drivers pre-installed, committed CVE response, and a team that treats your infrastructure challenges as its own. A local privilege escalation hiding in the Linux kernel since 2007. An AI found it. CIFSwitch is a trust-boundary violation in the CIFS client, a different class of bug than the page-cache exploits from the past three weeks, but the same AI-assisted discovery pattern. Nathan Blackham breaks down how it works, what CIQ is doing about it, and why this wave is not done. Mitigations are available today without a reboot: bit.ly/4u89kTJ #LinuxSecurity #EnterpriseLinux #RockyLinux #CIQ #CVE #LinuxKernel

The CIQ team spent three days at Open Source Summit 2026 talking Rocky Linux, running live demos, and giving away NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nanos to the people with the best ideas for what to do with them. The conversations were some of the best we have had at any open source event this year.
