If Texas Tech REALLY wasn’t going to play Brendan Sorsby, why not outright say that and avoid the massive, self-afflicted shitstorm that the injunction created? So much bad publicity could’ve been avoided if they just said he wasn’t going to play. The plan was to play him
Texas Tech never went against the NCAA. They followed the protocols to the letter and never once said that they intended to play Sorsby. Also, what is your explanation for the conference voting 15-1 to ban the tortilla traditional and then imposing penalties and a fine for a knife on the field that was planted by a Kansas Coach.

Oh, and it should go without saying that playing Brendan Sorsby would have gone against NCAA policy, considering his multiple, FEDERAL CRIMES that he committed

Steve Keim's famous quote keeps coming to mind this morning. "If Hannibal Lecter ran a 4.3, we'd probably diagnose it as an eating disorder."

For the last time, no one is mad that Texas Tech is winning games. Honestly that's good for the Big 12, and most Big 12 fans know that. The problem people have with Tech is that they went against the NCAA and the good of the ENTIRE SPORT and their fans are acting like assholes
I'm at the point where I'm over the Big 12 and I don't even care what happens to the other members. Texas Tech administration helped steady the sinking ship when Texas and OU first left for the SEC. We have been nothing but supportive of the conference. Our Chairman is actively trying to push legislation that would only benefit teams like those in the Big 12 and everyone (as in other ADs and presidents) are pissy because Tech started winning games. Give me a freaking break.

No, Texas Tech didn't break the law (that we know of yet). But they broke NCAA rulings, Big 12 bylaws, and every single unspoken and moral-code rule that College Athletics has. The courts made a bad ruling. Tech needed to step up and do the right thing, and they didn't.
What rule did Tech break?

No one is upset that Texas Tech was giving Brendan Sorsby resources to help fight his gambling addiction, but they are upset that Texas Tech was going to play him despite his actual crimes.

It’s the best solution for both Tech and Sorsby. It’s the right move. Should’ve been done at the beginning of this mess as soon as it came out. And my trolling and joking aside, it’s also a disaster for Tech. They burned EVERY bridge for this kid. Every single one. And their integrity as a program going forward is now gone or at least HEAVILY in question by every other Big 12 AD. They were willing to leverage the legal system and sue their own conference thinking enough money could save them from receiving any kind of punishment. And to make things worse, they were arrogant about it all. Now what do they do? They showed who they are and then got nothing for it. From fans of other teams to their own conference members. How do they regain that trust? They don’t have the clout to go independent. What conference would want to bring them in now if they left? What a mess. Over Brendan Sorsby.

These people actually exist, ladies and gentlemen. They walk amongst us. Hiding their stupidity behind a cactus
I don’t get how people don’t understand that we couldn’t legally punish him after the injunction

Ah yes, the poor addict that committed multiple crimes, lied to Cincinnati's athletic department, and sued the NCAA while weaponizing his mental health to go and play college football again.
Now that the poor addict we took in that you all bullied online relentlessly has finally left, can we all be friends and play together again?

Texas Tech fans after becoming the laughingstock of the entire College Football world for 3 weeks:
Stole an in conference QB, took down the whole NCAA for a month, and made everyone hate us just to say we could. Now Will Hammond is my QB just like we planned. Can’t believe this is my life.

Honestly, best part about today (besides the integrity of College Football being upheld) is that I can get all these idiot Texas Tech fans out of my home page. Hopefully. As long as they don’t keep trying to justify this shit

Common sense prevails. Brendan Sorsby leaves a legacy of showing the true colors of many Texas Tech administrators and fans. Hypocrisy knows no bounds. Texas Tech isn’t the only institution that would act this way, but they got caught. Now their reputation is damaged forever.

If Dominykas Pleta can add a jumpshot to his arsenal next season, that adds such an exciting wrinkle to next year’s offense

I'm tired of Texas Tech fans acting like Texas Tech was never going to play Brendan Sorsby when they were the ones who recommended a 2 game suspension instead of a season-ending one AND If he was never going to play, why not just say that? They were gonna play him
Not going back to tell every single person in my replies that they were wrong, but there were basically two sides over the past week: 1. Texas Tech is evil, corrupt, cheating, and will do anything to win, and you’re a naive dumbass if you think they won’t play Sorsby in the fall vs. 2. Me, telling everyone he wouldn’t play for Texas Tech I asked repeatedly where Joey McGuire or Kirby Hocutt said Sorsby was playing. Shared statements, video, etc., asking people to have some sense and read between the lines a bit. They refused, whipped themselves into a frenzy over something that didn’t happen (and was never going to happen), and now that they’ve been proven wrong they will not behave any differently or take any accountability. Oh well. Texas Tech deserves blame in two areas: the poor vetting of Sorsby in the portal and the poor PR in the wake of the injunction. Both matters of incompetence, not malice. Texas Tech ends the Sorsby saga having broken no NCAA rules, and getting a young man with diagnosed mental health issues the help he needs. That, of course, will not be the takeaway from random fans across the country, who were misled at every turn by national media either too stupid of too dishonest to do their jobs well. But that’s fine; none of those people respected Texas Tech before any of this, despite whatever revisionist history they want to spout now. These people have *always* talked down on Lubbock, our NIL, the Big 12, whatever. Onward and upward. It’s Will Hammond time, we have an amazing coaching staff and GM, elite recruiting, and it’s time to turn the page and go for another Big 12 championship. We did nothing wrong and still get to be the villain 😈 Fun times ahead. Red Raider nation. LFG #WreckEm

If they weren't going to play him: 1. Why only give him a 2-game suspension? Were they really going to then say "nah you can't play in any of the other games, either" And 2. This whole shitstorm could've been avoided just by saying "we're not going to let him play"

yeah pretty much. One of the worst gambling scandals in NCAA history, where a player bet on his own team, made 9,000 bets, gambled illegally many times, and somehow bent the law to still play College Football, is now over. The good guys won
Yall happy now cry babies?

To be clear, this doesn't mean Texas Tech did nothing wrong now. They enabled this entire thing, fought with the entire Big 12, and all the Texas Tech fans started becoming pompous jerks who thought they were above the Big 12. They still deserve to be laughed at
