One thing that keeps sticking with me after recording this episode:
Karen had been coming to our Bitcoin meetup for years.
Years.
She’s heard us talk about seed phrases.
She’s heard us talk about phishing.
She’s heard us talk about self custody.
And yet it still happened.
I think a lot of us assume these scams only work on people who are brand new, uninformed, or reckless.
But that’s not reality.
Sometimes smart people get caught at the wrong moment.
Sometimes a sophisticated attack finds the one crack in the armor.
That’s exactly why these conversations matter.
Not to shame people.
Not to point fingers.
But because every one of us has parents, grandparents, spouses, friends, or neighbors entering Bitcoin for the first time.
And they need to hear these reminders over and over again.
Never share your seed phrase.
Never enter it online.
Slow down when something feels urgent.
Tagging a few women who’ve spent years helping educate and onboard people into Bitcoin because I think this conversation is an important one
