Transcript: Hello DCAD! I’m Sean Maiwald, president of DCAD. I will step down at the end of the term, next month!
Transcript: After everyone gets to meet and present their ideas for DCAD, I will send out an email for the full and final vote for all the positions up for election. The different roles up for election include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Member at Large.
Transcript: Hi! Good morning from #NAD2022. DCAD is considering which five NAD priorities to support. Our current list:
1) Dismantling Racism
2) Educational Outreach to Industries
3) Civic Engagement
4) Implement a Rapid Response Team
5) Improve Vocational Rehabilitation Services
DCAD is proud to participate in the 56th biennial @NAD1880 Conference!
Fun fact: This year, DCAD was the first state association to arrive at the Council of Representatives chamber! This is yet another reason why DC deserves statehood. DC statehood is a Deaf rights issue!

Congratulations and welcome to DC, Kari Cooke. We look forward to supporting the community together!
Also, thanks to @MayorBowser for getting this Office established for the first time. One more step closer to statehood!
I’m proud to appoint Kari Cooke as the inaugural Director of the Office of Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing.
Throughout her career, she has been an advocate for inclusivity and accessibility. I look forward to the work she will do to engage residents and advance equity in DC.
