There is only one way to fix crime in DC. We must repeal the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act. An Op-Ed from @DCPoliceUnion washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

Mayor Scott says a Safe Streets worker was charged with a non-fatal shooting that occurred yesterday in Park Heights; says he’s “furious” but that it’s “an isolated incident that should not be used to undermine proven work” of Safe Streets

Who are the five DC Council members who have refused to advance curfew measures, an important law enforcement tool, that enhances public safety, and keeps young people out of dangerous situations?   -Janeese Lewis George -Trayon White -Robert White -Brianne Nadeau -Zachary Parker   They must stop prioritizing the chaos inherent with these out of control meet ups, as well as prioritizing offenders instead of law-abiding citizens of the District. I can do my job, but they must do theirs. fox5dc.com/news/dc-faces-sum…

According to you, each shooting costs taxpayers $783k and each homicide $1.5 million. So given the reduction in shootings and homicides, we’ve broken even, but without hundreds of victims.
The study estimates that between August and December 2025, the price of the National Guard presence in D.C. came to $185 million. nbc4dc.com/QlPfa8n

Six years ago today. @charlesallen began his effort to dissolve and defund the MPD. While some people may claim these measures are acceptable, Allen’s Orwellian bullet points do nothing to describe the harm his 60 page, 26 subtitle bill did to policing in the District. Since that day, we’ve fallen short more than 800 sworn members from authorized staffing levels and his actions have invited federal intervention and threatened home rule.
No bill fixes all, but today I shared our emergency police reform bill: ✅ Bans chokeholds ✅ Releases body-worn camera video & officer name w/I 72 hours after officer-involved fatality & serious use of force ✅ Forbids officers from viewing BWC prior to writing initial report 1/

The suspect in this arrest ended up being wanted for a MURDER in Washington DC back in 2022 and had been out on pre-trail release 🚨 38 year-old Jose Ramos was charged with second-degree murder while armed in October of 2025 and was allowed to STAY ON RELEASE, according to the DC Witness. The homicide defendant then went to a park in Mount Pleasant to drink alcohol and was re-arrested by federal agents. #DCCrime Read more about Ramos’ initial release: dcwitness.org/judge-allows-s…
There's video circulating on Insta of a tense scene in Mt. Pleasant last night: More than a dozen federal agents were in Lamont Plaza arresting a man for an open container violation. A woman holding a bat began heckling them, prompting US Marshals to draw their guns on her.

Yes, @Janeese4DC, this is EXACTLY what law enforcement should look like: Suspects wanted for murder get arrested (even when crazy people try to interfere).
Does anyone think this is what the future of law enforcement in DC should look like? Public safety starts here in DC, with our police, our community, our neighbors. We need to strengthen the tools that can keep us safe. That’s why…

In the world of DSA politics, criminals are always exalted to the highest level of society, while victims and innocent citizens are scolded and chastised for even reporting that a crime took place.
In 2021, the Council created an exception to the eviction moratorium to allow violent people to be evicted to protect a building’s tenants. Councilmember Lewis George was the one vote against the bill.

I'm sure the grifters who run "violence interruption" programs funded by DC government grants will gladly operate "safe injection" sites.
I do not think safe injection sites are a good idea on the merits. But even leaving that aside, I am begging people to consider what Trump would do if one was opened in DC. washingtonexaminer.com/news/…

Absolutely brazen for you to be commenting on policing. The only reason there is so much federal law enforcement activity is because you have worked tirelessly with the DSA to defund our agency. What you’re seeing is a direct result of your leadership.

New: @Janeese4DC just released an internal poll showing her up by 14 in the mayoral race: her lead stays at 12 even when they run a RCV simulation. This is quite the change from the public poll of the race, but I will say I’ve heard rumors of private polls with similar results.

Thank you for pointing this out, Scott. In other words, if @Janeese4DC was mayor we'd have no curfew. Chaos and conditions dangerous for teens, as well as everyone else, would reign supreme. P.S. 72% of District residents support the curfew.

We just reinstated a limited juvenile curfew under a new emergency order in Washington, DC. Here's how that impacts residents: 1. Effective tonight, 5/22, all youth under the age of 18 are subject to a 11PM citywide curfew. 2. Designated zones will be subject to an 8PM curfew as determined by the Chief of Police. 3. The curfew will extend through 6/6. This order is an emergency tool that will address the next 15 days to preserve safety and protect peace in our community.
