CAUGHT ON CAMERA: watch as a Douglas County Search and Rescue drone drops critical supplies to lost hikers near Bear Mountain on Thursday evening. Initial reports indicated the subjects were low on water and phone battery. While multiple teams were responding, the drone team located the subjects, established communication, confirmed they were uninjured, and returned with the care package supply drop. The missing hikers did an excellent job staying in place, calling for help once they realized they were disoriented and providing their coordinates. The DCSAR team reached the hikers and guided them to safety. From @DCSARColorado: “We're proud of the work our team put in and are extremely grateful for the support provided by the OEM Helitack crew & our deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. This operation was a great example of how strong partnerships, coordinated resources, traditional search and rescue techniques, and emerging technologies can all work together to achieve a positive outcome.” #HonorServiceValor

The Colorado Renaissance Festival kicks off this weekend in Larkspur! Expect heavy traffic in the area. Please be patient and plan ahead. If you are travelling to the Colorado Renaissance Festival, use I-25 to access Larkspur from the north as the West Frontage Road between Castle Rock and Larkspur will remain closed through the summer. 🚗 Park only in designated festival lots. Please do not park in or cut through nearby neighborhoods. Have fun, enjoy the turkey legs, and stay safe out there!

Expect difficult travel on Friday for the mountains and foothills as moderate to heavy snowfall will occur throughout the day. For the Urban Corridor and plains, despite less snow accumulations, slick roads will affect the morning commute! #COwx

It’s hard to believe that 21 weeks have come and gone for Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Facility Academy Class 21, that began this journey on July 21st. This week, the cadets proudly presented their Class 21 coin, a symbol deeply rooted in their identity and the challenges they’ve conquered together. They also gifted the academy staff a new flag box, built to hold the flags raised each morning. As the final days wrap up, the cadets can hardly believe it’s over. This class has been defined by its competitive spirit, pushing one another to rise above every obstacle and to always be the best versions of themselves. Class 21, your dedication, grit, and growth over the last 21 weeks have been nothing short of inspiring!

This is a look from our chopper that shows the absolute devastation of the Caribou Shopping Center in Nederland. It held all kinds of shops that made the town livable and now they are gone. I fear it will be years and years before they recover.
