Dear @Keir_Starmer and @UKLabour, 2834 horses have been raced to death since 2007 (horsedeathwatch.com/). Four died at Newton Abbot just yesterday. The gambling industry pays the bills. Could we agree that it would be good to avoid betting on politics AND animal cruelty?

Dear @guardian_sport, please can you explain your support for racing horses to death by covering it as a sport? You don’t cover bear baiting or dog fighting as sports, because we’ve recognised it’s wrong to gamble on animal cruelty. Time to stop supporting this blood sport, too.

Dear @BBCr4today, please can you explain why you provide tips for gambling on events that kill horses? 2241 horses have died racing since 2007. You don’t encourage gambling on any other sport. Isn’t it past time to recognize that this feature should be put out to pasture?

What's worse than gambling on election dates? Gambling on animal cruelty. 2830 horses have been raced to death since 2007 (horsedeathwatch.com). It's great news this morning that @BBCr4today will stop their racing tips. Thanks to all who signed this 2021 petition.
