Working the phones again today. Really good to speak with Chris White from @CMCCVC, Phil Vanderpol from @DPAC_ATLC, Nathan Phinney from @CanCattle, and Martin Caron from @upaqc. Just over 24 hours in the role, but there’s no time to waste and lots of work ahead. I’m focused on delivering results for our stakeholders — and supporting the 1 in 9 Canadian jobs that are driven by agriculture.

Over the past five years, DPAC has been tirelessly dedicated to developing a Grocery Sector Code of Conduct and building industry support around this strategic initiative for Canada’s agri-food value chain. This week’s announcement from the FPT Agriculture Ministers that all major retailers have agreed to join this initiative marks a key and much-awaited milestone in this process. DPAC wishes to thank Quebec Agriculture Minister @andrelamontagn2, federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister the Hon. @L_MacAulay and his predecessor the Hon. @mclaudebibeau for their leadership which proved key to reaching to milestone, as well as their colleagues for endorsing this initiative. Au cours des cinq dernières années, l’ATLC s'est consacré avec acharnement à l'élaboration d'un Code de conduite pour le secteur des produits d’épicerie et à la mobilisation du soutien de l'industrie autour de cette initiative stratégique pour la chaîne de valeur agroalimentaire du Canada. L'annonce cette semaine des ministres canadiens de l'Agriculture, selon laquelle tous les grands détaillants ont accepté de rejoindre cette initiative, marque une étape clé et très attendue dans ce processus. Aujourd'hui, mes homologues et moi avons annoncé que tous les grands détaillants, y compris Walmart et Costco, se sont engagés à adhérer au Code de conduite du secteur des produits d'épicerie. C'est une bonne nouvelle pour le secteur, et pour la concurrence.

Today, I joined my provincial and territorial counterparts to announce that we have now received commitments from all major retailers, including Walmart and Costco, to join the Grocery Sector Code of Conduct. This is good news for the sector, and for competition.

Great meeting this morning between @mathieu_frigon from DPAC and @yvesperronbq , M.P. and Bloc Québécois critic for agriculture, agri-food and supply management. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the Grocery Sector Code of Conduct. Let’s maintain the momentum to ensure the Code’s implementation!

Excellente rencontre ce matin entre @mathieu_frigon de l’ATLC et @yvesperronbq député du Bloc Québécois et porte-parole en matière d’agriculture, d’agroalimentaire et de gestion de l’offre. Cette rencontre fut l’occasion d’échanger sur le Code de conduite du secteur des produits d’épicerie. Gardons le momentum pour assurer la mise en oeuvre du code !

L’ATLC a rencontré @DaveEppCKL, député pour discuter du Code de conduite du secteur des produits d’épicerie, une mesure qui permettrait d’assurer des transactions équitables dans la chaîne de valeur agroalimentaire. Le Président et chef de la direction de l’association @mathieu_frigon a apprécié l’occasion de partager la perspective des transformateurs laitiers et a remercié M. Epp pour son intérêt proactif dans cette initiative essentielle.
