"The oil sands companies can build and operate [Pathways] if there is an appropriate sharing of costs between industry, the federal government, and the provincial government. The question is really, how will Canada and Canadians benefit from this project? The reality is that this is a project with no revenue. It is simply another cost burden that will be borne by industry and the two levels of government. The current estimate of the cost of capturing and sequestering one megatonne of CO2 is between $1.5 and $2.0 billion. A project of this size will require the expenditure of $20 to $30 billion dollars which will show up as an incremental cost for industry and a budget deficit and debt for our governments. And Canadians should ask – what do we get for this level of expenditure? The answer is that we will reduce global emissions by 16 megatonnes. In a world that emits over 57,000 megatonnes annually, we will reduce our global emissions by 0.02 of one percent. For $20 to $30 billion dollars of spend, we will reduce global emissions by 0.02 of one percent." /6

To our dedicated volunteers, team members, my campaign co-chairs - Dianne Watts, Ed Fast, and Teresa Wat - and the respected leaders who endorsed me: thank you from the bottom of my heart. When this campaign launched in January, the room was filled with hope, optimism, and a shared belief that British Columbia can do better. Since then, I have been humbled by the members, volunteers, supporters, and new friends who have stepped forward, worked hard, and helped carry our message of change and prosperity across this beautiful province. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you. Together, we will get B.C. back on track.

There has been a lot of damage done by the NDP and it is time to defeat them. I have the necessary combination of experience, leadership, and strategy to unite the party and defeat the NDP. I sat down with Drea Humphrey from Rebel News and she asked me why I am the best candidate for this job. For me, it comes down to three things: ✅  I have led before. I have served as a CEO and have a track record of turning around organizations. I know how to lead based on conservative values, how to build a strategy, and how to deliver results. ✅  I have a strong command of public policy. That is why I developed my Five-Point Premier’s Plan, which includes a 20% personal income tax cut for you. ✅  I am the only candidate with MLA, cabinet and Treasury Board experience. Voting is open now until May 29 at 8:00 am. I would be grateful for your #1 spot on the ballot - and for your consideration as #2 if you are supporting another candidate. Together, we will get BC Back on Track. iainblack.ca

Voting is now open until May 29 at 8:00 am. British Columbians are ready for change. They are ready to defeat the NDP and get BC Back on Track. My Five-Point Premier’s Plan, including a 20% personal income tax cut, is resonating with seniors, families, workers, and people across this province who need real relief and real leadership. The Honourable James Moore says British Columbia needs leadership. He’s right. Experience matters and I am ready. Ready to unite the party. Ready to unite caucus. Ready to lead British Columbia and WIN. Now we need every member to vote. I would be truly grateful for your #1 spot on the ballot and your consideration for #2. Langley, thank you! What an incredible evening last night with a packed room, real energy, and tough, thoughtful questions about my Five-Point Premier’s Plan and my BOLD commitment to deliver a 20% personal income tax cut. A special thank you to MLA Misty Van Popta and MLA Korky Neufeld for joining us and helping make it such a strong evening. And I was proud to say it clearly to the room: Yes, I will repeal DRIPA. Yes, I will repeal SOGI. Yes, I will end DEI policies. And yes, I will get agriculture, infrastructure, mental health, addictions, and public safety back in order. That work begins the day I become Premier. There were also important questions about the ballot. Voting opens this morning at 8:00 am, and this is a ranked ballot. Please make sure you rank ALL five spots on your ballot. I would be deeply grateful for your #1 spot and I would sincerely appreciate your consideration for #2. Every vote matters. I went back 16 years in Hansard and found this fun clip of Horgan describing a Site-C press event held by the BC Liberal government as only Horgan could. It seemed appropriate for today. #bcpoli

It’s time to defeat the NDP and take back our province. But first, we have a choice to make in this leadership race. Do we want to take a RISK? Or do we want someone who is READY? This race is about "risk versus ready" - and I am READY. Experience matters. I am ready to lead this party. Ready to unite our caucus. Ready to present a BOLD Five-Point Premier’s Plan that includes a 20% personal income tax cut to put more money back in YOUR pocket. Most importantly, I am ready to WIN. Voting opens Saturday morning. I am asking for your #1 spot on the ballot - and I would be grateful for your consideration as your #2 choice. Together, we will get BC back on track. iainblack.ca

I am ready to be Premier. Because experience matters. Leadership is more than slogans and social media posts. It takes judgment, responsibility, and real solutions that give people hope and confidence again. I have served as an MLA, in cabinet, and on Treasury Board. I know what it takes to make tough decisions, respect taxpayers, and deliver results. That experience matters to you and your family. It means lower taxes, safer communities, stronger services, more jobs, and a government that understands the real pressures people are facing every day. I am ready to lead this party, unite this party, win the next election, and get BC back on track. And one important reminder: to vote in this leadership race, you must be verified. The deadline is tonight at 11:59 pm. Get verified. Make your voice count. For help on voter verification, please visit - iainblack.ca/verification

The NDP has no business telling parents how to raise their children or forcing ideology into our classrooms. I will repeal SOGI. Teachers should teach. Students should learn. As Premier, I will bring back the basics, restore letter grades, get phones out of classrooms, put O Canada back in, end DEI , and repeal SOGI. Please take a moment to get verified to vote - the deadline is May 20th at 11:59pm. And when the time comes to vote, I would be grateful for your #1 spot on the ballot and consideration of your #2. There is nothing accidental or random about this. David Eby knows the NDP internal polling: Leading a strong and united B.C. Conservative Party into the next election, Iain Black will defeat the NDP, no matter the leader the NDP offers up to B.C. voters. It’s also why the NDP issued a news release the day Iain Black launched his campaign in January, criticizing his support for the tax cuts that had British Columbians paying the lowest taxes in Canada. No other candidate had such a news release issued by the NDP, because no other candidate is more electable in a General Election. No other candidate poses such a clear and present threat to the NDP Government. The NDP is worried about Iain Black, and for good reason.

White Rock, I’m coming to your area on Wednesday May 20th to meet with you, hear your concerns, and answer your questions. The NDP have made a mess of British Columbia - and families, seniors, workers, and small businesses are paying the price. We can get BC back on track, but right now it comes down to two very important things. First: you must be verified to vote. Join me in White Rock on Wednesday, May 20th, and my team will be there to help you get verified. The deadline is May 20th at 11:59 pm, so please do not wait. Second: when voting opens from May 23rd to May 29th, I would be honoured to have your #1 spot on the ballot - and grateful for your consideration as your #2. Together, we will repeal DRIPA, implement my Five-Point Premier’s Plan - including a 20% personal income tax cut - restore safe streets, get major projects moving, defend parental rights, and bring discipline back to government. For YOU! I look forward to seeing you in White Rock and working together to get BC back on track. iainblack.ca/events/whiteroc…

As the former Chancellor of the Vancouver School of Theology at UBC, I know that on Day One, we need someone who is ready to lead - with experience, discipline, and real solutions. Why does this matter? Because our Sikh, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Christian, and all faith communities deserve safe streets, safe spaces, and a government that takes their concerns seriously. As Premier, I will bring together a multi-faith symposium of religious and community leaders to help develop practical solutions that restore safety, respect, and confidence in communities across British Columbia. This is an important moment in our campaign. To vote, you must be verified by May 20 at 11:59 p.m. Experience matters. Leadership matters. And together, we will get B.C. back on track. iainblack.ca

Not on my watch. @cityofvancouver voted to close the injection site. The NDP ignored their decision. Let me be clear: “Safe supply”, decriminalization, safe injection sites…all gone once I am premier. Time to take back our Main Streets, province-wide. nationalpost.com/opinion/ada…

You can tell a guy who’s actually in the trenches of Conservative politics. When we took Alberta back from the NDP in 2019 we won a landslide but some of the infighting on some of the policy commitments was intense. Conservative movements are packed full of common sense normal people and an activist base that is by its nature a bunch of freedom-loving individualists that don’t want to be told what to do by a govt or a party. Some of them make their version of perfect policy the enemy of pretty good policies - which in BC, to Brad’s point, is: “…. the NDP gone, smaller government, fiscal responsibility, protection of private property, the end of government in the drug business, hospitals that are open when you need them, safer streets…. “ BC never had to be poorer and less safe with a lower standard of living than a decade ago. That was a choice - that started with who got elected. So heres to Brad @Bzubyk and everyone on the different leadership teams working hard to make BC better. And here’s to coming together around the next Premier and getting ready to govern - which is when the really hard work starts…. BC is worth it.
Some basic political facts for some of our more strident friends on this platform. There are at best 2-4 potentially realistic pickups on the Island, North and Interior. That's being super aggressive but let's say that's in play. To win a comfortable majority and defeat the NDP, Conservatives must win the Lower Mainland. That means holding Langley, possibly pick up 2-3 seats in Surrey and Richmond, win 2-3 in the the Tri-Cities, pick up 2-6 in Vancouver/Burnaby/North Shore. There is no other path. The Conservative Party has already near maxed out in the interior and north. Defeating the NDP will require compromises within the party. It will require that members commit to backing the winner of this race. It means that members put the people of B.C. ahead of their personal definition of purity and perfection. There is simply no other option. If you want single issue purity, start a podcast. If you want the NDP gone, smaller government, fiscal responsibility, protection of private property, the end of government in the drug business, hospitals that are open when you need them, safer streets and any number of issues we can all agree on, then help with the hard work of winning. Regardless of who the new leader is. Regardless of your pet issue. Regardless of your personal view of purity. BC is counting on us now and if you can't put province over party you will only be of service to the NDP. Lecture over.
