Every defense needs a headliner, and at North Crowley, DC Thompson brought the beat. Straight outta Fort Worth, he lined up on Friday nights like a track dropping heavy bass — hits, sacks, and pressure that kept quarterbacks off rhythm. Two-time First Team All-District and District Co-Defensive MVP, Thompson filled the stat sheet like a chart-topping album: 110 tackles, 11 sacks, seven passes defended, and four fumble recoveries in his career. His senior year? 43 tackles, 14 behind the line, four sacks, and 22 hurries — the kind of numbers that hit harder than a drumline.
And just like a smoke pit that stays cooking, North Crowley keeps producing talent. Alumni include:
•Aaron Mason – Defensive Back, TCU (2010 Fiesta Bowl team)
•Michael Sampson – Running Back, Kansas State (Big 12 standout)
•Jayden Nixon – Running Back, Oklahoma State (current Big 12 playmaker)
•Shawn Bell – Defensive Line prospect, Texas Tech
That tradition runs deep — steady heat, steady output, athletes molded under the Friday night lights. Thompson is the next in line, carrying that same fire into college ball.
Now the spotlight shifts to the Rio Grande Valley. This is where the track flips, and Down in the Valley fans get to watch history from the ground floor. DC Thompson is bringing Fort Worth flavor to the 956, adding another Dawg to UTRGV’s BBQ pit — where the smoke is rising, the roster’s building, and the beat never stops.
