Thank you, Europeans.
It’s been a terrific week of Europeans experiencing and opining on all the great things in America. I’ve been talking up hot American breakfast and black coffee for a while. But this gentleman absolutely nails why we’re doing temperature right

The restraining order. Totally unfair. It's not like I MEANT to pull the pin on the grenade. S. GrenadeS. It just sorta happened. And nobody died so I don't see what the big deal was. Political persecution is what it is.
People who don't go to movie theaters anymore - what made you stop?

Cunning. Brilliant. Gotta hand it to Steve Jobs, he was a showman.
Fable isn't the first. In 1999 the department of defense blocked exports of the PowerMac G4 for crossing the 1 gigaflop threshold. Steve Jobs turned it into an ad.

I heard it's the better Disney park, too, since it isn't half under construction. And it still has Splash Mountain.

"Bawdy mother" meant either she slept around or she was a hoor.

So you screwed up SO BADLY they banned you and all your relatives and anyone with your last name from living in this town ever again… The name Gastrell has the unique feature of being banned in Stratford-upon-Avon. This is owing to the dramatic action of Rev. Francis Gastrell, who resided in New Place (once William Shakespeare’s home) during the 18th Century. Irritated by the large numbers of passers-by staring at the Bard of Avon’s former residence (particularly a mulberry tree supposedly planted by the poet, which enticed people to trespass and steal cuttings from it), Gastrell cut down the tree and chopped it to pieces. An alternative story suggests that Gastrell believed this action would lessen the value of the property (and the amount of tax he would have to pay). In an apparent bid to avoid taxes, Gastrell went so far as to have New Place pulled to the ground entirely in 1759. This unforgivable action resulted in Gastrell being forced to leave the town, never to return. To ensure that neither the Reverend (nor his descendants) ever entered Stratford again, a bylaw was passed prohibiting anyone with the name Gastrell from taking residence in the area. (Text not from the pictured book; it was just the only picture I could find of New Place.)

“These Are the Dead Man’s Eyes” is a standalone excerpt from WAR IN PIECES. It was my very first piece of war writing, and Neal @PilumPress believed in it enough to give it a home. You can find it in PRIZES: PILUM NEW VOICES No. 4. 2/5 pilumpress.com/products/priz…

If you’re in the mood to check out my non-war writing, I have a collection of short stories available. BRAIN LEAKAGE collects new and previously published work. Sci-fi. Fantasy. Humor. More fun than a root canal. And cheaper, too. 5/5 amazon.com/Brain-Leakage-Dan…

I found the dialogue in this to be so mesmerizing I couldn't stop listening. It's amazing what a couple of good writers can do to keep your eyes glued to the screen.

Time it right, you go and buy the annual pass. Spend a week. Go home, wait 350 days or so and go back. Use up the pass. My daughter went to one of the parks. Just for a day. Food was not crazy expensive. Lots of neat toys for a reasonable price. Yeah, go to Japan.

OS's change around you. They contain API's (Application Programming Interfaces) which are the bits of the OS that do things for you, like accept mouse events that let your software know when the user clicked on something. These get updated or replaced. So you have to keep up with the changes. This is "maintenance." There are other reasons, but this is an important one.
can anyone ELI5 why software needs to be "maintained"? Like why do you need whole teams working on stuff that already works? Hardware doesn't work like this If it functions, it functions and does not need to be changed unless you're replacing something worn out.

You know, if this statue had been made by Khorne worshippers, it would be called "The Statue of Butchery."

The algorithm pre-decides how many people will like it, then only shows it to that many people. Literally nobody else among your followers sees it.
I posted 3 hours ago about my latest book, and of my 17k followers, X is telling me only 57 people saw it. This platform is broken.

Big buildings with statues on them that are Grecian, not Art Deco. I suggested that as an aesthetic two-ish years ago. I wonder if that would be counted in this Greco-Deco. A return to beauty.
Chattanooga's new courthouse. The style is called "Greco-Deco". We're taking this worldwide. We're taking this to Mars. This is the answer.

Remember yesterday when I wrote an entire long post explaining why "cool" was a critical factor in the devolution of Pop Culture? The universe loves me and provided supporting evidence today. #WarpigIsRightAgain
I saw a fantasy author in all seriousness mock "nerds" recently and had to wonder: When did nerds get booted from this scene? Did I miss the memo? Any other proud nerds here doing their thing without apology?
