Oh Jamie - it’s not VAR that makes it difficult to defend, teams are just better at set pieces. Players (including ex player pundits) need to take more responsibility for poor defending instead of blaming technology! @SkySportsPL

Of course @Arsenal fans would love to have this call, but the reason VAR was invented was to ensure that maximum entertainment was achieved and awarding a PK here would have virtually ended this match - where's the fun in that?!

Just because Simon Hooper couldn't move out of the way of this pass, does not mean that a whistle must sound. Villa players should have kept playing rather than watch Tels miss this wide open goal opportunity. As a referee, it's good when players show they make mistakes too.
