We lost two more great small businesses over the last week. Lockdowns have real consequences. Hospitalizations at #Brampton Civic are down dramatically this week from 110 to 70 #COVID19 patients. The reopening schedule is too slow. It’s time reopen fully our small businesses.

Well said @Sid_Seixeiro. It is beyond frustrating to see the media abdicate their responsibility to practice journalism throughout this pandemic. #canadianmediafail
I don’t usually respond like this on social media…but I need to say something: I have never, ever been censored regarding anything I’ve ever said on-air. My opinions today regarding the Premier of Ontario not only aired live this morning, but were also posted. Here it is.

Ontario needs to remove the lockdown, as planned, on Jan 26. Most CFIB members have been skeptical this will happen as they've faced among the longest lockdowns in the world (over 420 days for many). Comments from @fordnation suggest govt may stick to its word this time.

Once again, @fordnation is making small businesses jump through ridiculous hoops for table scraps. And many (MOST?) small businesses won't qualify as they have gross leases with taxes and utilities included in their rent. @PBethlenfalvy @CFIB @MacLeodLisa

Has the media asked this Government why it is not allowing anyone who rents to qualify for this program? How many landlords will? Property taxes are almost always included. @ColinDMello @cristina_CP24 @CBCToronto @CFIB

While many business pay their own utilities, how much heat and electricity have small businesses used while they have been closed? 🤔

While this is welcome news to some, MANY (most?) small businesses have gross leases that include property taxes and even utilities. These businesses are shut out of this program. Why not allow them to submit the info from their landlord? @fordnation @MacLeodLisa @PBethlenfalvy
Ontario's Business Costs Rebate Program is now open! Eligible businesses can get a rebate for part or all of their energy (electricity and heating) and property tax bills. Check if you're eligible and apply here! app.grants.gov.on.ca/obcrp/#… #onpoli

“We’re just left out here to fend for ourselves. It’s terrible.” Businesses face more uncertainty as province hints a Jan. 26 reopening isn’t guaranteed. #covid19 toronto.citynews.ca/video/20…

This is deeply worrisome.
NEW: Ontario's CMOH says he "can't guarantee the 26th" reopening date. He says the impact of the Jan 5 closures should be seen next week -- and that will inform them of when Omicron will wane.

@CFIB I own a salon in Markham and our business has dropped at least 80percent since the province put down the 50 percent capacity in place! With the cases soaring every day and people being told not to social or gather, no one really needs to get their hair done.

It is good news the Ontario govt will provide $10K grants to help compensate for lockdowns. It appears those who received earlier rounds won’t need to reapply. But if lockdowns go on for longer than 3 weeks, this is entirely insufficient. news.ontario.ca/en/release/1…

I can’t stop thinking about how all of the businesses in Ontario that require proof of vaccine and have strict health and safety protocols got shut down today and everywhere else just … didn’t?

Final point? It will be impossible to predict what will peak first, staffing shortages, or the Omicron wave. So if you have mild flu like symptoms, assume you have Omicron, and STAY OUT OF THE EMERGENCY ROOM. Let's minimize their exposure and keep ahead of the wave. /12

Dance has a number of benefits, some we often don’t even think about. Not only is it good for the mind but for the body as well! What other activity can improve strength, coordination, and flexibility all while allowing us to express ourselves?

Swift and fair. Tax breaks and loans are not enough. Premier said the burden would not be shared equally….certainly is not. #20tutu we just want to Dan e. #mentalhealth @MWGDance has been creating confidence in kids since 2004…@fordnation we are essential to families.
