Design System Basics – Creating Reusable Components 😎 Have you ever wondered how to efficiently create a component library or UI Kit? A component library is a collection of reusable UI elements, like buttons, forms, and navigation menus. These pre-built components save you time and ensure consistency across your designs. To streamline your design process aim to design interfaces in a modular way with these building blocks. Just think about it, it’s like having a bunch of handy puzzle pieces at your disposal, only each puzzle piece can fit into many different puzzles, therefore showcasing real use 🙌 Sounds great, but you’re probably wondering how to do it: 💥 Start with the smallest component such as an avatar or button 💥Now combine these smaller parts to create larger, more complex ones 💥Arrange these components in different way that could be useful so that you have many templates at the ready for when you need them That's exactly what we've done in the example below. This is a great way to improve productivity, efficiency and consistency 🎉 Go on, give it a go yourself! #onlineshop #onlinestore #ecommerce #ecom #tech #techtips #graphicdesign #webdesign #webtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecom #ecommerce #websitetips #abtesting #designtips #especial #webdesign #webflow #onlinestore #onlineshop #graphicdesign #ecommerce #ecom #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #onlinestore #onlinelayout #abtesting #graphicdesign #design #webdesign #ecom

Design System Basics 😎 Ever needed the 101 on the basics of a Design system? You’ve come to the right place ✅ A Design System is a set of building blocks and guidelines that help keep the look and feel of products and experiences consistent. There are many benefits of a Design System, both for the users of your site as well as for the designers themselves. You see, having an endless stream of design options might sound exciting and creative, but it can actually be rather overwhelming for the user and time-consuming to implement for the designers. One of the building blocks within a Design System is a Style Guide. Here’s 3 steps to follow to create one that is super simple but super effective (see the examples below) 🎊 Create a limited colour palette 🎊 Create a set of predefined Typography options 🎊  Create a set of limited spacing options A few important benefits of a style guide for the user: 💯 Strengthens brand recognition 💯 Reduces visual clutter 💯 Easier to read and navigate A few important benefits of a style guide for the designer: 🚀 💥 Easier to maintain 💥Simple to collaborate with other designers 💥Quicker to implement By developing your own style guide, you will save yourself a lot of time in the long run when sitting down to design and you’ll also give your users consistency in what they see. Sounds like a win win situation all round and who wouldn’t want that? Go ahead, create your very own style guide and see how helpful it is 🙌 #onlineshop #onlinestore #ecommerce #ecom #tech #techtips #graphicdesign #webdesign #webtips #abtesting #graphicdesign #webdesign #webtips #abtesting #graphicdesign #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecom #ecommerce #websitetips #abtesting #designtips #especial #webdesign #webflow #onlinestore #onlineshop #graphicdesign #ecommerce #ecom #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #onlinestore #onlinelayout #abtesting #graphicdesign #design #webdesign #ecom

Shopify Flow – New Action to Lookup Customer in a Segment 💥 There is a new action on the @Shopify block and it’s called ‘Lookup customer in segment’. This action can be used in any workflow that provides a customer ✅ For example, say you want to check if a customer is part of ‘expedited shipping’. You can easily do so and then all you need to do is add a tag to the order to expedite the shipping 💯 It’s as easy as that. Control Whether Your Buyers can Apply Discount Codes on Draft Order Invoices 😎 @Shopify has done it again and added a very helpful tool. They have introduced a setting that allows Shopify merchants to control whether buyers can apply discount codes for their draft orders when reaching their checkout. This means that you will be able to manage the use of discounts more effectively. Just don’t forget that this feature is automatically disabled, so you need to enable it if you want to make use of it 🎉 Pretty nifty, wouldn’t you agree? #shopify #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #onlinestore #onlineshop #techtips #techupdates #shopify #shopifyupdates #shopifyupgrades #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #techtips #tech #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #techtips #shopifystore #onlinestore #onlineshop #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #shopifyPOS #shopifyupgrade #shopifyimprovements #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #onlineshop #onlinestore #tech #ecommerce #ecom #shopify #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #ecommerce #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom

Reduce Cognitive Load 🚀 Ever wondered why some pages are easier and less intense to peruse than others? Well, that’s usually because of the cognitive load. Just as the name already describes, as a designer, you want to ensure that your audience does not need to use all of their brain power to understand the interface you’ve created. You want them to have free mental space to focus on the task they’re trying to achieve e.g., adding a product to a cart and not being overwhelmed by too much information that they abandon their mission from pure visual and mental overload. There are a few clever and quick ways to reduce cognitive load, which include: 🎉 Removing unnecessary styles and information 🎉 Grouping bits of information to make them more ‘digestable’ AKA chunking 🎉 Not trying to re-invent the wheel but rather using conventional design patterns that people are used to 🎉 Always trying to stay consistent in the form and the function of elements within the design 🎉 Always thinking of the visual hierachy Take a look at the examples below where you can clearly see what can be improved upon in ❌ and then how we worked to improve it in ✅ As you can see, it’s not rocket science but doing these small steps can go a long way with your online visitors 😎 #onlineshop #onlinestore #ecommerce #ecom #tech #techtips #graphicdesign #webdesign #webtips #abtesting #graphicdesign #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecom #ecommerce #websitetips #abtesting #designtips #especial #webdesign #webflow #onlinestore #onlineshop #graphicdesign #ecommerce #ecom #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #onlinestore #onlinelayout #abtesting #graphicdesign #design #webdesign #ecom

Updated Gift Cards section in the Shopify App 😎 @Shopify has streamlined the way merchants view gift cards. Not through big features changes this time but rather through making the gift card section on the Shopify App more closely related to how it looks on the web 🥳 So, do not worry, everything has essentially stayed the same, the only difference is that the Shopify App no longer has the Gift Card Overview. They’re still there, you just have to use sorting and filtering to find them, which isn’t the end of the world 😊 #shopify #shopifyupdates #shopifyupgrades #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #techtips #tech #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #techtips #shopifystore #onlinestore #onlineshop #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #shopifyPOS #shopifyupgrade #shopifyimprovements #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #onlineshop #onlinestore #tech #ecommerce #ecom #shopify #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #ecommerce #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom

New changes you will find: 💥 Re-designed split-screen view 💥 A new action menu This means that you will be able to view more information on a single view without needing to scroll a whole bunch. Plus, your staff will also be able to find what they’re after much faster. Add Exchange Products and Return Fees During the Return Approval Process 😎 The return or exchange phase can be a bit of a tricky process from merchants to go through, not just dealing with clients but also in the admin section. As a merchant, you want to ensure that your ‘in stock’ tally is correct and properly represents what you actually have, which is why being able to have extra features like the exchange products and return fees updates 💥 Plus, being able to send the correct products over to your client when they want to make an exchange or replenish their return fees. Calling all merchants, ease of use when it comes to exchange products and return fees 💣  What do you think about it? #shopify #shopifyupdates #shopifygrades #onlinestore #onlineshop #techtips #ecom #ecommerce #onlinesales #tech #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #techtips #shopifystore #onlinestore #onlineshop #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #shopifyPOS #shopifyupgrade #shopifyimprovements #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #onlineshop #onlinestore #tech #ecommerce #ecom #shopify #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #ecommerce #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech

Minimise Interaction Cost 💥 Ever feel frustrated with endless clicks and steps just to fill in a form or get a product in your cart? In the world of UX/UI we call that interaction cost – which is the total physical and mental effort required to achieve a task e.g., looking, scrolling, searching, reading, clicking, waiting, typing and thinking 🎉 So: You essentially want to create a task and have it completed within as few clicks and time as possible, for the online viewer. For example, if someone is trying to purchase something, you don’t want them to have to click on 17 dropdowns and add 4 bits of information in order for them to add an item to their cart. This would be a high interaction cost and you want it to be as low as possible. A few quick and clever ways of achieving a lower interaction cost is through: 🚀 Keeping related actions close 🚀 Reducing distractions 🚀 Minimising choice Take a closer look at the examples below. You will see that in ❌ there are many steps the online viewer must take to add their bowl to the cart. You will see the clever changes we made in ✅ to reduce the interaction cost. You have to think ahead a bit for this one, put yourself in the shoes of the online viewer, consider accessibility points and ultimately create a streamline process but if you do this and you do this well, perusing your site should be an enjoyable and user-friendly experience for all. Are there any more changes you’d make to this design? Have a logical reason for every design detail 🙌 When it comes to UI design, many people think it’s just about making the interface look nice. This is the wrong approach to UI ❌ ✅ A far more superior way to look at things is by considering their objective logic. The reason ‘objective’ is used because you need to stay objective in your approach to design, in order for the design to suit and work for as many people as possible. Taking a subjective stance might make the interface look and function great to you, but what about the thousands of others looking at it who do not resonate with your taste? Therefore, UI must implement logic in the design. For example, as you can see in the designs below, special care has been taken in these areas: 🎯 The icons and text have been left aligned to make them easier to read 🎯 Icons have been added to give the reader a quick overview of the topic 🎯 Headings are bigger so that those in a rush can skim read 🎯 Other copy has been written smaller as to show the hierachy of information Depending on the design you’re portraying, the logic will naturally be different. The best approach that you can take is to simply put yourself in a viewers position and make the design accessible for them 🏆 #abtesting #graphicdesign #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecom #ecommerce #websitetips #abtesting #designtips #especial #webdesign #webflow #onlinestore #onlineshop #graphicdesign #ecommerce #ecom #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #techtips #onlinestore #onlineshop #onlinestore #onlinelayout #abtesting #graphicdesign #design #webdesign #ecom #ecommerce #graphicdesigntips #onlineshop #onlinestore #onlinepresence #ecommerce #ecom

Return rules in POS 😎 One of the most frustrating things for both a @Shopify merchant and the merchant’s staff is figuring out how to accurately manage returns. Sometimes it can be hard to know when a return should be accepted and when not. Therefore, with the update from Shopify that outlines the return rules for the specific in store or online store came out it, it made the process a lot easier for everyone 🙌 By the way, this in turn will also have a positive effect on the customers, as trust is built through consistency in services and procedures, even when it comes to returns 💥 The return rules are configured in the Shopify Admin, so head over there to set yours up! Don’t forget that if a manager with the permission needs to override a rule (as it simply doesn’t work with a specific return) this is possible too. 👏 Ensuring flexible service at all times 🎯 #shopify #shopifyupdates #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecom #ecommerce #tech #shopify #shopifyupdates #shopifyupgrades #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #techtips #shopifystore #onlinestore #onlineshop #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #shopifyPOS #shopifyupgrade #shopifyimprovements #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #onlineshop #onlinestore #tech #ecommerce #ecom #shopify #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #ecommerce #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #shopifyupdates #shopifyupgrades #shopifychanges

New Shop Pay Feature for customers: Default Address Setting 😎 One of the most important bits to any online order is the delivery. Many customers cancel their orders due to incorrect shipping details saved. In order to avoid this, Shop Pay has made it even easier for your customers to save their details on the Shop Pay app, either directly through the app or via an online store when using the Shop App. A small but impactful update on @Shopify 🙌 #shopify #shopifyupdates #shopifyupgrades #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #techtips #shopifystore #onlinestore #onlineshop #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #shopifyPOS #shopifyupgrade #shopifyimprovements #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #onlineshop #onlinestore #tech #ecommerce #ecom #shopify #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #ecommerce #onlinestore #onlineshop #ecommerce #ecom #tech #shopifyupdates #shopifyupgrades #shopifychanges #abandonedcarts #onlineshop #onlinestore #shopifystore #shopify #shopifyupgrades #shopifyupdates #onlinestore #onlineshop
