Great write up with lots of pragmatic ideas for how to improve things 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Poker fans and poker players are two different groups of people (with some overlap) and I think WSOP.com could be used better to give the fans as much FOMO as possible and I wrote about it on The Overlay: open.substack.com/pub/theove…?

Cute theory, let's play it out. A monkey hoards a trillion bananas. The troop, enraged, beats him to death. They gather around the pile to feast at last. But... oh wait, there is no pile. It turns out the "bananas" were shares in a banana-launching company the dead monkey founded. The shares were worth a trillion because he was alive to run it. Now he is dead and the stock is worth $0. The retarded monkeys have clubbed their way into a recession. But it gets worse. Half the "bananas" were tied up in a rocket that supplies bananas to monkeys on the far mountain who had no bananas at all. Another chunk was tied up in a little satellite dish that beamed banana coordinates to the troop after a flood took out their trees. So now they realized they beat to death the only monkey who knew how the dish worked. So the monkeys sit there. No bananas. No rockets. No coordinates to get more banananas. Just a dead body and a powerful sense of fairness as they all now became infinitely poorer. OH And somewhere a smaller monkey watches the whole thing and quietly decides he will never build anything in front of these animals again.

The new @solana color scheme/motif is orders of magnitude more aesthetically pleasing than the previous one. Bravo @WSOP @GGPoker

I’m not really one to complain, but the @WSOP final table viewing/streaming experience is a real disappointment, especially after such high expectations being set by the quality and magnitude of the production set. The excessive delay on the live stream combined with the lack of live updates, means that the only way to keep track of a friend/horse at a final table is to be there live…. Where there is no practical seating, no one announcing all-in confrontations, and only a small screen display to see hands in play -without knowing who has what. I went to sweat a friend at the 25k final table, and was so bored and unable to see stacks or what was happening during hands, that I left almost immediately. I know this is essentially year 1 of a new era, and the return to ESPN is no doubt a thrilled update, but I know I’m not the only one who really hopes the live viewing/streaming experience is thoroughly re-evaluated.

Thought I would share one of the best products/hacks I’ve discovered for live poker, especially during @WSOP when germs are rampant and people always get sick. I found this Japanese hand sanitizer a few years ago and I’ve been carrying it with me pretty much 24/7 since then. Comes in a variety of great aromas, easy to carry and doesn’t leave sticky/oily residue like a lot of sanitizers do. 10/10 product, IMO. a.co/d/08iWWGLY

@KevmathVegas is there anything unique about the $1700 “Circuit Championship” event? Other than the buy-in?

This is incredible, and accurate.
This video simulates what it looks like when you are on acid. Stare at the numbers in the middle of the screen and then look around - whoa. 😵‍💫

Perfect summary 👌🏻
The Krissy fold take are 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️ Funnily enough maybe the way it should have concluded is with Felipe folding his last 2bbs after half the table went all in! FWIW - I’d half stack as Felipe - Call/fold as Elton - Fold as Phil - Call as Krissy Most likely 3 of the 4 players should have done something different, but results orientated people love to just pile on the one who “got it wrong” However I’m sitting after a good nights sleep with 0 consequence. Not on the back end of 20 days of million dollar swings with no sleep and heavy jet lag playing in one of the biggest spots of my life with a clock tick ticking in my face. Almost certainly calling QQ would lose more money than KK makes calling. Every player at triton last week would have been a pip off here or there, however of course high stakes poker is all about execution in this spots and being precise. Krissy is great, the fold wasn’t. Likely most people in the hand could have done something different. High stakes is not full of robots. Humans make mistakes, that’s ok, just try and make less than others.

Tl;dr: Anal Gang-Rape
Insane framing. He was anally gang-raped. He was severely beaten and then anally gang-raped on camera. Both a knife and a taser were reportedly used. There was a hole in his rectal wall. He got surgery for it. Because he was anally gang-raped by the IDF (on camera). He also had 7 broken ribs and other injuries as well. After it happened, Israelis staged multiple large protests in the streets. Not because they believe these soldiers did anything wrong, but because they were infuriated that the soldiers were arrested for anally gang-raping a Palestinian on camera. These protests weren’t just random people. They included multiple high ranking Knesset members (their Congress) who defended the anal gang/rapists. They didn’t stop there. They went after the lawyer who leaked the video. She was publicly smeared, was forced to resign, and was arrested. And now the anal gang-rapists who were caught on camera have had their charges dropped. They didn’t win in court. They weren’t somehow exonerated. The charges were completely and indefensibly dropped. The Jerusalem Post reports that there was sufficient evidence to take this to trial. This is part of a larger pattern of torture and impunity. NYT and many other major outlets have extensively detailed the abuses at the Sde Teiman torture factory. NYT reported that Prisoners lose 30 pounds, a nurse was anally raped by a metal rod, another man was raped by a dog, and another was anally raped by a fiery hit rod until he died. Yes, the NYT reported all of that. I’ll share sources in the replies. Torture and sexual assault are commonplace at Sde Teiman, and many prisoners die in the process. The UN concluded that rape from IDF soldiers is so commonplace that it constitutes official “strategy of war”. And of course these monsters virtually never face jail time. Because Israelis by and large don’t have any problem with any of it. This is just what their society does. They torture Palestinians.

We are overstimulated and we don't even notice. Netflix while eating. Reels in the bathroom. Music while cooking. Podcasts on walks. We consume by default, not by intention. You keep filling every gap, then wonder why you feel foggy and unmotivated. Boredom and silence are the real growth drivers. They give you space to think and create. That's when solutions show up for problems that have been stuck for months. Leave some room.
